What next?!?!?

Ok, so I'm pretty sure that my regular hospital (the one I'm not too fond of) found out that I am going for a second opinion, and so the nurse who has been putting up with me through this whole ordeal FINALLY called the other day (probably because she was sucking up) and said they ordered a 30 DAY Holter test!!!! AHHHH!!!!!!!! *sob* It's going to be pool season soon!! I still remember the 24 hour one... Fun, but embarassing. I think I'm going to ask my friends out to the local pool and clip the monitor onto my bathing suit; that added to the scar(s) should do something... :) :) :) LOL!! I'm evil.

Hi there!
I'm not a pacer, but my 6 year old son is . . . I can read his future in your funny, optimistic, but kinda sad posts . . . I'm soooooo sorry about the holter. My son has had sooooo many rude comments about the scars at the beach & pool (we live in a lake/resort community)--like he can't hear or has no feelings at all!!!
"oooohhh, what happened to him?" I just want to scream, "he has a name, he can answer for his self, and, by the way, "ooooohh, what happened to YOUR MANNERS?????!!!!!!!!!" I can't imagine being a teen girl with these issues.
Keep up your spirits with your 'off-beat' sense of humor. You'll make it. People who have no 'scars' or adversity in their life are often at a disadvantage because they fall apart at the smallest thing. You are strong & brave!

Could they have possibly waited until it was more inconvenient!? Maybe they'll get what they need after two weeks. Even if they don't, it'll be worth it to figure out what's going on once and for all. That's more important than anything else. You deserve to feel good!

Be proud of your scars, not everyone is that cool. The other kids may not get it now, but some day when they're older and aging, the light will click on. No one gets through life without scars, either on the inside or outside, and the scars are what sculpt our personality and make us stronger, better people. I'd rather get mine young so I can spend fewer years being young and stupid! ;o)

Harry's Mom... you rock! I love your attitude. Your son will turn out just fine, happy and well adjusted.

Monitor

by ShadowWeaver - 2009-05-02 03:05:20

Well, I don't know about the one they are sending you, but my 2 week monitor was not water proof, but it also was nothing like the 24-hour monitors either. It was a LOT more comfortable and wasn't nearly as noticeable to people around me. Now, in a bikini, everything is noticeable so no luck there, but at least during other times it will probably be pretty invisible. Hopefully they will figure out what is wrong (I went to the hospitol 1 1/2 days after I got my 2 week monitor and then again 1 week after I got out I had to go back. A little over 1 week and they had everything they needed) and get you up and going soon.

Take care and keep us advised of what is going on.

Hi, I just can't for the life left in me figure out how in the world people would be looking at your scars and halter monitor when you have this magnificent smile on your face only to be matched by those wonderful bright eyes and your amazing intelligence plus an awesome personality to match!

Hey, we girlfriends must stick together =) I am only saying it because it is true!

Take care, please know how much we all care about you.

Well...my input is that the 30 day Holter that I had was a lot smaller and lighter weight than my 24 hour monitor. Mine also was NOT waterproof. I had to unhook everytime I took a shower, and often had to replace the electrodes that should have lasted two days after only one day. I sort of forgot the thing was there most days - being as it was pretty light and I would hook it on my bra strap and forget it! I'm sure it will be an annoyance for hanging out at the beach or pool, but it will also only be for 30 days (or less, as in my case...only 24 days), and think about the fact that if you don't do it, the docs are liable to miss something that could end up being life threatening (also, as in my case!). Good luck and it will all be worth it in the end!!!

Oh, yeah...and the scars ARE cool! Quite the conversation piece...nothing to be embarrassed about, and often tell the stories of our lives...be proud!

Hey sweetie

Sydney,
I know that the timing is aweful and not fun but dear you gotta continue to stay positive they will figure things out soon.
The monitors are not fun but they are not aweful you may not be able to swim like you would want but you can still go sit out in the sun for a while and get that warm air.
I don't know why people like to make fun of others so much about scars and I know its more known in the younger age to get the looks and comments. Ignore them and just realize that they have not faced near as much as you have had to go through and don't understand. You have a lot to offer those people and be that light that you are and stay strong.
It's hard, but you know the people that count think you have a amazing heart and love you for who you are. Oh and one day maybe we can all sit around and show are scars and are stories behind each one.
Praying for you sweetie!
