Questions

Hey guys! I have 3 questions, all of which I think are very important.

First, AM I WEARING A TARGET?!?!? You know how on Monday my brother elbowed George? Well, on Tuesday, my next door neighbor pushed me (we were rough housing) and she hit me @ the implant site!!!

The second question is serious, but still has to do w/ the first: Should I contact the doctor if I get hit there again? I'm starting to worry although I feel fine. Just wondering...

And lastly, what does "fully dependent" mean anyway? @ my last cardio. appt., the nurse said I was 100% paced in my ventricle, but only 30% in my atria. ???????

Thank you for any answers you awesome people can give me! This truely is THE Bionic Support Group...

(peering into the screen) Nope, don't see a target!

I'd only contact the dr if it bruises badly or you feel bad. They're pretty tough, if you hit it hard enough to damage the pm, you'd be bruised enough to know it.

Dependent depends on what your heart does if you turn it off. Some people pace all the time but would get by ok without it because they have a decent underlying rate. They wouldn't feel so good but they would live to tell about it. Me, I consider myself dependent. I pace 100% like you do, and my underlying rate is in the 20's, definitely not high enough to keep me going for very long without the pm.

I'm surprised you pace that much in the atria. AV block means the signal never gets through from the atria to the ventricle so the pm is always giving the ventricle the signal to beat. Have they mentioned a secondary problem that affects the atria?

You know you're wired when...

You have a maintenance schedule just like your car.
