Static

Hey everyone How is it going. I just have a quick question. Has anyone had a problem with static shocks, you know when you touch someone or something and get a little shock? Today I seem to have a lot of that going on. And you can see that im charged because my hair is going everywhere. I just want to make sure that its normal and there isnt anything wrong with my device. I know its silly but it is driving me crazy. I hope everyone had a great day.

This is too funny! By all means I'm not trying to make fun of you at all. I just thought this was funny because I'm always getting shock and shocking people and I tell them I'm just jump starting their hearts. I don't think you have to worry too much about this. Maybe you're just electrifying. Take care and wear rubber gloves it might help you. LOL.

ZzzzAP!

My mother told me about the key trick. It didn't work for me. I STILL got a ZAP from the key!!! It does lessen the shock for me, but it's still a shocket (pardon the pun).
What I now do is "Elbow it" - I touch my elbow to the door first. If there's a shock, it's through my sleeve or coat, plus I barely notice.
Hmmmmn - An anti shock device on a key chain... Any inventors out there?

Static Electricity

Britt, I'm pretty sure what you are experiencing is shock from static electricity. So far as i know these sparks do not affect our pacemaker. This happens on dry cold days where I live. Yesterday I had a blue flame about an inch long greet me when I reached for the door nob. I avoid these shocks - after the first one - by carrying a metal object such as my house key in my hand. Let that metal be the first thing to touch the object where you get the shock. While you may see the blue or red spark you will not feel it. Somebody else will have to tell you and me what to do about the electric hairdo. Bob

Dryness

Yup...if it's dry out, watch out! I have this problem a lot in the winter months.

James...I like what you say--that you're jump starting hearts! I should tell my husband this because he bears the brunt of my shocks during the winter months! He gets so "mad!" Rubber gloves...the new fashion statement?! LOL

Well everyone thats for the information. I have to say I now am aware that it came from the dry weather. We just got Big Cold front through Florida and things are pretty dry. The shocks dont bother me to much but I picked up my nephew the other day and shocked him so bad it made him cry :( So now I just try to touch the nearest Adult before I pick up the little ones :)) The static is just driving me crazy because its also making my hair Frizz. I am going to the Dr. on Wensday so maybe I will see what he says about the possible interference. Thank you all for your Comments.

Ps. James, I didnt think you were making fun of me. I felt like a big goof ball even putting it on here so its ok. My family laughs at me all the time because of it.

You know you're wired when...

You get your device tuned-up for hot dates.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
