Check with your doc to be sure it is ok... but I did ride them Sat & had no problems. That said, I don't know your specific problems... So call to be sure! ;D

Have fun.

I have heard of other people doing things like roller coaster, kayaking, wall climbing etc... I have also heard that you might want to have an adjustment to your pacer to accommodate a significant change in your heart rate due to an adrenalin rush. I don't know about PMs but the ICDs with their cardioversion ability it's a big issue.

If you get to do it make sure to come back and share with the rest of us! I can't even watch them anymore without feeling nauseated. Guess I've gotten old..

I have to agree with the two other comments...check with your doctor...but with that being said...my PM has not stopped me from doing anything.....I sky dive, ski, wakeboard, run, cycle, swim, parasail, golf , play soft ball, bowl, ride my quad...and yes I have been on many roller coasters....our PM's are to help us enjoy our lives...so get your doctors ok and go have some fun!!!

Get ready to ride :)

I never really thought about talking with my dr., however, it definitley would be a good idea!

I had the opportunity to ride or not ride back in 2006 in Vegas. I didn't really know if it was ok, but remember my dr. had told me to live life as normal. I had my PM for about 7 years and decided to ride...I rode the Manhattan Express. It has 4,777 feet of track, Maximum height of 203 feet, Drops 144 feet and Speeds up to 67 mph, it even went upside down and a track of a sideways spiral. It was a blast and everything was ok.

Wishing you the best in all the FUN things you do in life!

thamks soooo much

Roller Coasters... No problem!

Even though this is an old post, I'm going to comment just in case someone is looking for info on the subject...

I'm a HUGE roller coaster fan and before I agreed to the implant I asked my Dr. cause it was a deal breaker for me.
She said no prob. Didn't even give me any restrictions.

Now, I know we're supposed to avoid the ones with magnets; however, I asked what would happen if I came into contact with a strong magnet, and was told it would simply cause the device to return to factory settings while in contact and that it should switch back after. (FYI - The phone checks use magnets.)

So... I go on them all. So far so good.

Dr. Shahin Tavackoli answered:
What are the risks of riding rollercoasters for a person with pacemaker?

None There are no risks unless they come very close to a powerful magnet which I do not think happens while you're riding a roller coaster. Even if you did however, nothing bad will happen and as soon as you walk away from the magnet, things go back to normal.
