low back pain

greetings all
it has now been 6 months since my medtronic addr01 pacemaker implant for sick sinus syndrome and mostly all is well. it has made a positive difference in many areas. for the last two months though, i have been getting a progressive low back stiffness/pain that is very hard to relieve. tried NSAIDS and a few muscle relaxers via the MD but no relief. anyone else with this symptom, i doubt it is PM related but no other reason that i can think of.
thanks:

Sore Back

Are you by any chance taking any cholesterol lowering medicines. Especially one of the statin class drugs. There are several, but the ones I can think of right now are Lipitor, Vytorin, Zorcor and Mevocor. One of the side effects of the statins is muscle soreness, especially back muscles. If you are taking a cholesterol lowering medication ask you doctor if it is one that has this side effect?

These medications are more often than not prescribed for those of us with heart problems of any kind, even when our problem is not caused by high cholesterol. It is considered a preventative treatment.

If you find a cure, please let me know.

Low back pain, too

It most likely is not related to getting your pacemaker. It may, however, be related indirectly.

I experienced low back pain about 2 months after getting my ICD. I have seldom had back problems in the past without a good reason. I figured it was from walking differently, not being as active (to protect my surgery site), and trying to sleep on my back. I found doing some exercises to strengthen my back and stomach took care of the problem.
