Hi friends out there with PM/ICD; Just need to share with you about drugs side effects and wonder any of you could enlighten me as to what's going on inside my body.
Had 5 shocks from my ICD in Jan and nothing was the same since. Firstly Dr had added on one more drug Digoxin to my existing antiarrhythmic agent, propafenone. Then a host of changes like new on board is crestor and plavix. A lot has happened thereafter, no end to gastrointestinal problems like belching and stomach discomfort PLUS weight loss. The latter I don't like. Today had an ultrasound scan on abdomen done and praise the Lord, it was normal. So now am on some gastro tabs and hopefully it will settle. Do you think it's the small dose of digoxin that maybe intereacting with current cardiac drug and that also can cause loss of appetite etc? Am still rather uncomfortable now and then; I'm forcing myself to eat to regain lost weight. Awaiting blood test report tomorrow. Appreciate your input. Thanks.bunnykin.

drug actions and reactions

A few years ago I had a DNA test that informed me which matabalizing category my body fit into. Based on this we went through my drug list and changed one and fine tuned a couple of others and it made a big difference. I am also allowed to access the pharmacological data base to see how a new drug would interact with the current mix, given my DNA group. My Dr has all this info in his files as well. This is a one time test with a lifetime of information.

mikej thanks

In reply to your question, no mine is the standard ICD not the CRT. However, you may have a point there too, I'll probably ask my EP next week when I see him to see if adjusting the settings might help with this stomach or tummy problem. I do get this pulsating under the left breast area like when the lead is pacing me...it's got that metallic beat feeling pulsing me sometimes and feels really odd. (am almost 100% pm.dependent). Thanks again for you input. bunnykin

Thanks for information; This is awesome! I've not heard of such a thing yet, at least not that I know of here where I live. Sounds like a great idea actually so we as patients need not suffer all these side effects and interactions from drugs that doctors so casually prescribe for us. Well if it's accurate these results should save us all from great discomfort in future. Thanks for sharing the information tho perhaps we've not got it available to us yet. Keeping my fingers crossed that my symptoms will soon be sorted out and eliminated. bunnykin
