Appointment

I have an appointment with my EP tomorrow. I have been having episodes of palpitations, shortness of breath, and dizziness while at rest. I have been wearing an event recorder for the last couple of weeks, but from what the recordings show, my heart rate is only increasing...there is no sign of any other problems. I know that the symptoms that I am experiancing are not normal, but I don't know what else to do. I am just at a loss...I am not able to function during these episodes, and it takes me hours to recover. I am going in to have a 24 hour blood pressure monitor because I am still experiancing dizzy spells and black outs as well.
Does anyone have any advice to offer? I need to get some answers, but with the recordings only showing an increase in heart rate, what am I supposed to do?

Hi Amanda....

The closest thing I can find from my experiences was a few years ago before my AV node ablation and PM. My heart rates would go crazy. I was in constant a-fib with my heart rate usually ranging from 128-154. I felt the tightness around my throat and shortness of breath most of the time. I had a couple times when I'd get a big rush in my head and I'd almost immediately black out (once driving home from my Dr. appt). It wasn't until I was in the ER, and connected to the monitor did I see what was happening....I would be in a-fib and my heart rate was up around 150 then all of a sudden it dropped to 50 BPM.....that rush came again and I was able to see the big drop. It was a comfort to at least know what was happening. I wonder if that might be what's happening to cause your dizziness and black outs? It's almost impossible to catch the exact moment when something like that happens. Don't know if this helps any.....take care, Claudia
