Ablation

I am having an epicardial ablation on Thursday. I would appreciate any input that anyone has on this procedure. This will be my 5th ablation, but the first one that will be done epicardially.

I am getting pretty anxious about the procedure. I know that everything will be fine, but I just can't get it out of my mind.

Thanks,
Amanda

A lot of patients get anxious. This proceedure can cause considerable post operative pain. On the other hand you may just feel fine. I suggest you discuss this issue with the surgeon before the proceedure is carried out. Ask them if they have any Dilauded as morphine etc might not be up to it. I expect you feel that you have already had one too many ablations. This is an uncommon proceedure on this site so please let us know how you get on. Good Luck. Peter

Summing up. Epicardial ablations are more sucessful than endocardial ablations. Long term sucess still not fully established. The abation will take on average about 3 hours. Most common complication is post operative pain. Cheers Peter

Hope that everything will be better soon

Hey Lady,
I am calling you soon but I just wanted you to know you have support from people here. You will be just fine. I pray that your surgery goes well and that the pain is not bad.
I will be thinking of you all day and for the days to come. Thanks for all the support this week with my Grandma. Relax and rest tonight. Love ya! Tammy

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
