Pacer moving?

Thanks to all of you for your support. I called my cardio's office and talked to the nurse. She said that leads come in all different lengths and what is left after they hook up the pacemaker to it is curled up behind the pacemaker. She said that sometimes they can come uncurled and start moving about. She said for me to watch that area of skin under my arm and if it starts turning red or breaking down before I come into the office next month to come on in but as of now there is no real danger, just the discomfort. She told me to be sure and tell the cardio when I go to my visit. I really don't think I will forget!! Thank you for all of the advice.

pacer moving also

my moved and I went to the doctor many times. I finally met with the original surgeon and he did give me some options...actually surgery. He would change the size of the pacemaker, fix the pocket, adjust the leads that are felt through my skin and move all to a different location.
I received a replacement on Feb. 2008 so I am not a happy camper to have to got through this again. However, if I let it be as is he did say that the functionality of the pacemaker would not be compromised. I have some thinking to do by Monday.

pacemaker size

My pacemaker is about the same size as my first one seems like. It's just that I am worried that the slight pain that I have now will get worse before the battery runs down and needs changing and also infection setting in. I have come to the conclusion that I don't think my pacemaker moved just my leads have slipped out of the pocket and is rubbing on my armpit. Or at least I think that is what's happening. I really don't know yet, I don't go to the dr until next month unless it gets worse and I have to go on without an appointment. I wish you luck on your decision on Monday. I wouldn't be a happy camper either to have to go through this again. It looks like they would be more cautious about making sure they have everything secure in there before they close you back up. Sometimes I think the surgeons get in too much of a hurry and hurd us in and out like sheep or cattle. I know they aren't perfect but come on! With all of the new technology out there they can't tell me that they can't think of a better way of doing this, you know? So we don't have as many complications...sorry, I just get a little ticked off sometimes when I think of many of us going through what we have to. I wish you luck. Keep us posted.
