computers and other hi-tech gadgets are not good?

was just like to asked some queries bout the "FACT" or "MISCONCEPTION" that pacemaker operated person like us are limited in terms of exploration and leisures or fun with the use of modern and hi-technologies like cellphones or computers because it will limit the life span of our battery. If this is a myth then, there is really a need for information dissimination so countries like us will also know how would it be. I mean pacemaker operated will know how would it be., like me, i am working n a government agency where i deal with computers everyday for our reports an all other documents in the office. Thus this mean my battery life span instead of 8 years will be then become lesser???? or there is actually no big difference between using or not using??? am talking about the exposure of radiation really matters most??? And if so, is there any chance to atleast give us any techniques or ways how to protect ourselves from this problem? Thank you sooo much, hope anybody can tell me any side effects of which pacemaker operated like me can do to avoid such.

Computers have no effect on a pm! I do websites for a living and spend all day in front of my computer.

New pm's are shielded so many electronics that previously caused interference now have no impact.

On the rare occasion something interferes with your pm, all you have to do is keep it more than 6" from your device. Cell phones and ipods can fall into this category, just use them on the opposite side if it's a problem. I have never had a problem with either one. I clip my little ipod shuffle on my shirt right over my device when I work out!

Interference will not affect your battery life. Pm's have a small magnetic valve that when closed puts the unit in test/back up mode. As long as the magnet is close to your pm, the valve will be shut. The pm will still work but it will not be fully functional. As soon as the magnet is moved away, the valve opens and normal function resumes with no harm done.

Your battery life will be determined by how much you use it and how large your safety margins are. If you pace 100% your battery life will not be as long as someone who paces 5%. If your usage is erratic, they will give you very large safety margins and your battery will not last as long as someone extremely consistent in their usage who can get away with smaller safety margins. Each time you get your pm interrogated, they can tell you the projected life. 5-7 years is average

Every time I use my Braun I get funny tingling. It scared me at first. I told the Cardiac Dr. and she said they get a lot of similar stories, but no harm after 4 years. No dental to heart problems for me.

thanks alot for the info...
