Fatigue

OK now six weeks since the Pacemaker fitted. It has been altered and lowered to 50 for the resting heart rate. Rapid response off and stimulator lowered. I do not have to take the Beta Blockers only if I find that the ectopic beats are troublesome. Question is why oh why am I still tired. I feel like I have done a hard day's digging in the garden.

Any suggestions to bring my energy up.

Thanks

Hi Jules,
Good to see that your getting on top of things.
I work hard on my diet and exersize and find it makes a big difference for not feeling Tired. Then I sleep well and pacemaker keeps my rate not below 50 and I feel great.

If you want more specifics on Diet and exersize I am happy to give some guidance.I have rececelty been a qualified Personal Trainer(qualifactions just lapsed recently)
Cheers
Pete

Not the pacemaker?????

Have you considered the fatigue is due to something other than the pacemaker? It is natural to pass it off as the PM since it was a recent event in your life. But, maybe you are a bit anemic, need vitamins, low blood sugar, thyroid etc.. How about checking in with your primary care physician and maybe getting some blood work done? I say this because I am chronically anemic. It does show up on my hematocrit or hemoglobin as the lower end of the normal range. However, my iron stores are low and that is what my PCP basis her recommendations on. I am once again taking iron daily. Your fatigue could be something as simple but you should get yourself checked out. Good luck and God bless you.

Fatigue and solutions

by Vai - 2008-02-27 01:02:53

Pete and Sharon offered excellent advice and I completely agree with the recommendation.
Get a good nights sleep (sleep early rise early)
Take a afternoon nap
Start an exercise regimen (start slow and build-up from there)
Eat well and good diet

At 6 weeks post op you are still in recovery stage and you need all of the above to get you back to normal.

Your situation is not drug induced and does not appear to be PM induced.

All the best in your recovery
