Jump or Twitch - Not sure

Does anyone else get a jump or twitch, not sure how to explain it in their upper stomach now and then. Not sure whether it is the pacemaker or me.

Thanks Jules

Regularity

Hi Heckboy,

It has happened on and off all day today, but has now ceased the time being here in France 9pm. Weird not actually a flutter or the feeling of a missed beat just this feeling of a twitch as you put it in my upper abdomen.

I also take on board what Elke says. Yesterday travelling back from England on the plane I didn't eat normally and my feeling in mystomach was of a fullness and slight nausea.

Also for some reason I have been feeling very lightheaded on and off.

Hey as you say though if it is significant someone will pick it up. I don't think it is bad enough to go to the Dr yet though. See if it happens regularly first.

Twixt twitch and the trivial

Not sure how you're feeling with your twitches, but I was getting a twitch or jump in my diaphragm. For me, I could feel the air leaving my body with each twitch? Mine seemed like the flutters of a baby kicking or like a hiccup without the "hic". Mine was also severe rather than flutter-y. And it was worse when laying on my left side although I could feel it at other times. It WAS related to my ICD and was pretty much corrected by some minor adjustments to my threshold levels.

As much as the problem bothered DH and myself, it was NOT picked up by the DR., x-rays, or test readings. It took some major talking and an 'induced attack' before DR believed it was in my stomach rather than in my head. This, too, sometimes caused me to become nauseated, especially if it happened at a time when I was sitting down -- as on a car ride.

On the plus side, I seemed to have better bowel movements related to the twitching. (DR said it was due to better blood supply. . . but the phenomenon stopped when the twitching was stopped.

Do bring it up with your health team. . . sooner it it's troublesome or at a regular appointment if you don't mind.

As to the occasional other tic or twitch or eye or jump or a nerve. . . yep! Had 'em before ICD and have 'em after.

Good luck! Redd

My twitch

If I was sitting down I would fee this twitch. It was my pacemaker kicking in. They turned it down or altered the setting somehow and I have not had it since When the twitch happend I would have to stand up. Just what happened to me. Sincere wishes. Billie

Sometimes

It had crossed my mind that it might be PM related, but I also get the occasional twitch in my eye, finger, etc... so I have never bothered to investigate further. I figured if there was a problem, the dr would find it at my next checkup.

Does it happen regurally?

stomach problem?

HI Jules,
I had that happen to me and I also had some pressure in that area. The cardio suggested that I have my stomach checked out. ON a bloodtest I tested positive for h-pylori, which is a bacteria effecting the stomach /intestine and it is known to cause ulcers. Do you get nausea or feel full after eating just a little bit ?
I'm not suggesting that your symptoms are caused by h.pylori , but what I am saying is that your symptoms could be caused by a variety of different things. If you cardio can't find anything, then perhaps your family doctor should look into it.

Have "The Twitch" too....

Hi Jules,

I know exactly what twitch you're talking about....to me, it's a cross between a throbbing, twitch or spasm. I had an AV node ablation and Bi-Vent pacemaker implanted about 6 mos ago. Immediately after I woke up from the anesthesia, my chest was pulsating like crazy! They sent the PM tech over immediately and made some adjustments to calm everything down. It seemed to help a great deal, but on occasion, I get the pulsating right above my stomach area....seems like more often when I'm hungry or eating. On my 3 mo followed up, I mentioned the weird feeling to my EP and he had the PM tech try to readjust the setting, but just couldn't take it too low to make sure that the PM could do it's job. My EP also said that if it was too irritating, he could go back in and try to readjust the leads. Apparently one of my leads passes closely to a nerve cluster around my stomach. I really don't care to have him readjust the wiring and am tolerating the sensation and rationalize thinking that my pacemaker is doing it's job. The EP also said that the wires can give you issues because they are installed while you're lying down and when you sit or stand up....they can reposition. I feel that he gave me a good explanation of why there is a twitching and wanted to pass that on to you. Best of luck.....Claudia

I can relate to that

Hi Jules
I havent been on the site for over a year now, just got the newsletter and thought I would have a look at some of the comments.

I know what you mean I get it off on and on too. Its like a jump in your abdomen or a hiccup inside and it makes you catch your breath, sometimes I also inhale really quickly and accidently snort when it happens... Its only since my latest pacemaker so it may be the advanced computer technology or random interference to the signal and the pacemaker is resetting itself

Im 48 now and had umpteen many, lost count pacemakers, since I was 15 yrs old and this is the first time I have ever experienced this... doesnt worry me that much though as I feel so much better than I have ever felt with this pacemaker.

PS I had Helio ... pylori and took the medication for that quite a while ago so Im sure thats not it...

Cheers Narelle

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
