Fatigue

Just another query. Getting on really well with pacemaker now and true to everyone's word I hardly take any notice now.

Has anyone though gone through a spell of complete fatigue. My pacer is set at 45 because I enjoy running. Only twice a week but nevertheless I like to get out.

Recently I have been totally washed. Do you think my pacer is set too low. The doctor did say that he thought it might be worth asking the cardio unit.

Any help look forward to hearing.

Thanks

I'm not sure why you needed the pm in the first place. It could be medications causing the fatigue, it could be that you need the settings adjusted, it could be something that's not cardiac. The only way to know for sure is to ask the dr.

I have an av block, which means my lower number is more or less irrelevant but the upper limit has a big impact on my ability to work out. If you pace atrial, you may need rate response adjusted and/or the lower limit raised a bit.

sounds too low

My pm is set at a low of 50 under that is considered badychardia? Madaybe your setting is too low. Get it checked for your own peace of mind. A low pulse/HR makes one feel soooooooooooooooooo tired.

Hope this helps Chees from Oz Billie

When do you experience the fatigue? Try checking your pulse when you feel that way. Also check your BP. Do you know what your resting HR was before needing the pacer? 45 is a bit low unless you are a hard core marathon runner or the like.

I find that when I relax in my recliner, my HR will drop to my lower setting of 55 and often my BP goes down into the 85/48 range. I will get to feeling a bit wiped out until I get up and move around. Hurrying to answer the phone brings the numbers up a bit and I feel ready to go.

I've thought about having my lower HR turned up a bit, but it has its advantage of being able to easily take a nap or go to sleep.

Complained of fatigue yesterday so they switched on my rate response. Only had it on 12 hours so cant really say yet if it works, but.......it may just be psychological, but this morning i feel energetic and just went out and cleaned my car out, a job which has been waiting for a few monthS

ive been to the gym tonight and feel completely energised, check if your rate response is on or not, its made a massive difference to me, and its only been on a couple of days. Cant wait to see how I get on hill walking at the weekend, because im usually exhausted.

My reason for the pacemaker was my heart rate at rest was 30. I am on no medication so can't be that but lately this feeling of complete exhaustion has come on.

I am not a marathon runner any more and only run twice maybe once a week for 6 miles and yes like yourself my blood pressure is low also. Couple of times feeling quite lightheaded.

I have been to the doctor for blood test all of which OK no thyroid prob or anaemia. He has written to the pacemaker clinic to see if they will see me before my yearly check.

Thanks for the comments and help everyone and will let you know what happens.
