has this happened to anyone else

Ok fellow friends I have a strange question. I had the strangest thing happen to me a little while ago and I have been afraid to tell anyone. So here it goes. I went out for the day with my 9 year old, kind of a mom and daughter day, although I am not suppose to drive. We were on our way back home and hopped in the care, I put the keys in the ignition and thats when the strange thing happened...... for the life of me I could not figure out how to start the car, this was not like my typical brain farts this was different, almost put me in a panic, I sat there for about 10 minutes talking to my daughter trying to remember how to start the car. Eventually it came to me but was the weirdest thing I ever experience. Have any of you had similar things happen?

TIA?

Sounds like a TIA (mini stroke) to me - I would go to the ER right away and get it checked out!

ditto

what the others said, go get checked out!

maybe not TIA, but have it checked

that sounds like what a friend of mine was having, but it wasn't TIA, it was petit mal seizures, so STILL GO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT ASAP!!!
Good luck and God Bless!!!

dear dear why are u driving if your not supposed to??? Risking your daughters life, someone elses life, and obiviously you dont care about your life. It amazes me that if you are told not to do something there must be a reason, passing out, um lack of oxygen to the brain, causeing confusion not knowing what to do. Its scarey but like the others said go to a doctor and let them know excatly what happened. Sorry I was a little gruff up there, but dont want to see anything happen to you or someone else, just does not make sense to me, I know it sucks not being able to drive but like i said there has to be a reason.

Hey Guys:

Thanks for the lashing, yes I know it is not safe to be on the road, to assure you I don't do it often, and NEVER when I have an inkling that I am "feeling Off". I do have a call into the doctor, but no call back yet, a little frustrating but I know he is not in the office everyday. As you all probably know by your own experiences it is sometimes so frustrating to have your world turned upside down and inside out. I am just getting very concerned because I have a feeling I know what the good doc is going to say and ya know it's probably not what I am ready to hear. Anyway thanks for all the support.

don't wait for a call back

Please don't wait that long, go to the ER! If you have had a stroke or TIA, it can be a precursor to a larger stroke which they can give you meds to prevent. It is better to overreact and find out it was nothing than have a bigger stroke while waiting for a call back.

Needs looking into

Especially when it lasted so long I would definitely have it checked.

Why aren't you supposed to drive? That might give some idea as to what was happening. One thing for sure..you are really risking both yourself and your daughter to drive right after an event like that. You have no idea what else is missing in your brain activity. What if you couldn't figure out how to put on the brakes?

Having gone through the experience of my wife's stroke I am very aware of the strange things that happen when a part of the brain is deprived of blood flow.

Hi there, hope things are OK with you. I've never experienced anything like this but my friend once went to the supermarket, came out and couldnt remember where her car was, what make or model it was, then she realised she didnt know her name or address. This was obviously real scary, but it was a good 7 or 8 years ago now, she was about 37 I think and its never happened again. Perhaps sometimes in this busy world our brain just occasionally misfires and its time to start to take care of ourselves a bit more.

HOWEVER!!! If you arent supposed to drive it must be for a reason, please dont ever go out in the car again, especially with your daughter. I know its really difficult when you are used to driving, but sometimes we just have to accept that there are some things that we just no longer can do.

Take care HH
