MRI

My dad has back problems and terrible pain, but since he has a pacemaker the doctors say they can't do an MRI to find out what's going on and they can't do surgery without doing an MRI. Has anyone with a pacemaker had this problem with a medical condition requiring an MRI? Any suggestions? I hate to see him in so much pain and it seems like there must be some kind of a solution. Thanks for your help!

Don't loose hope

Hello,

I just thought I would suggest that you take your Father to a reputable Dr. of Chiropractic Medicine. It very well could help him. I know that where I work we help people get back to their lives everyday, pain free. There are good chiropractors everywhere.

Surgery to fix a back problem isn't the only option.
Give it a try... what have you go to loose? The pain?

Good luck.

CT Scan

I don't want to start a controversy by telling you what I think about most all Chiropractors, but you might ask the doctor about whether they can do a CT Scan. Good Luck

MRI

I am going through something like that myself. I hurt my shoulder while picking up a child ( I am a preschool teacher) My Dr. thought I may have torn my rotator cuff ( left shoulder ...same as PM). I have had to put all of my therapy on hold as...I just went through another surgery for my PM where they put it under a muscle. So. I have to heal all the way from that one but...Dr, says he might consider...injecting some Dye into that shoulder...if it leaks out...it means it is positive for the rotator cuff. He is considering doing it because..I can not have the MRI either as with all of us with a PM.

I hope this has helped a little bit.

Good Luck to you

Cat Scan

I have lower back issues too. Needed an MRI and of course couldn't have one so they did a CAT scan with contrast instead.

Yes CT Scan

My cardiologist outlined the few things I would not be able to do with a PM and one of them was an MRI scan. I asked what that was for and she said mainly neurological investigations. But that CT scans would be fine. I understood CT Scans to cover the rest of the body.

My Cardiologist did say that if an MRI scan was needed there were other ways around it - so I suggest you speak firstly with the doctor who recommended an MRI find out why a CT Scan would not suffice. If it turns out an MTI is the only answer - talk to a cardiologist as to what 'other ways around it' entail.
