ultrasound, MRI, cat scans

I am scheduled for a renal ultrasound after the date I plan to have PM put in. I had kidney cancer 8 years ago. All clear for 8 years, but have check-up each year. Can I have ultrasound after PM?

Also seems I read no MRI's? How about cat scans?

Change dates..

Could you possibly switch your dates around and have the MRI first, then the PM after that. You should discuss this with your physicians and ask them to reverse your planned procedures. Then you have nothing to worry about until the next MRI. Good luck with both! God bless you.

new ultra sound technologies

Hi!
I was recently told me to expect an ultrasound when going for another test (turned out it wasn't needed), and when I reminded them of the PM, they said the "new" ultrasound thing-ys don't interfere with PM.
Has anyone else been told that?

Ultrasound

I was told that MRIs were the only test I could not have. I have had Bone Density; chest x rays and of course knee x rays. I wish you well.

I don't believe an ultrasound or a CAT scan will be a bother. I have had both with no problems whatsoever. The MRI may be a different story. They use large magnets for MRI's that could pull your metal wires and pacemaker out of your chest. I have heard that there are newer MRI's that are safer for pacemaker/ICD patients but have never had one.
It's always a good idea to inform ANY technician that you have a PM/ICD before you have any procedure done, though. They can then take any precautions necessary for your comfort and safety.
Good luck to you and my very best wishes,
Gellia
