I've had a pacemaker since last April 2007. My bone Dr. informed me I needed a full shoulder replacement, when I mentioned to him I now had a pacemaker 100 %. He was at a lose for words at first. He seems to think that the anesthesoligest is the one who will popo this operation. Right now the shoulder is bone on bone and hurts like heck, I want some relief soon. Has anyone out there had a similar problem, did they have the surgery? Was there any problems getting all the Dr's to agree? I'm still waiting to hear from my Dr. looking for some insight, thanks

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.

Ive not come across that one before. I dont see any problems other than the pacemaker may have to be temporily removed and held in a sterile bag on the end of its leads whilst still attached to you. The complication is that you would need a electrophysiologist specialist as well as an orthopaedic surgeon and the usual technicians to be present during the operation. Another option would be to attach a temporary pacemaker accessing your heart from a different direction with leads/wires. This probably could be done through your leg. I am sure the doctors can work out a solution.A lot of doctors like a challenge. Best wishes Peter
