Checkup Report

Had my annual office check this morning. Kind of boring. Not much to report. All is working fine and no need for changes.

Now it is just sending a CareLink by phone every 3 months till April 2012.

Glad to hear all went well! I love CareLink.....it's so much easier than the other system they used. Sue

DDF Mode

I'm really fortunate to have something simple like AV Block without complications.

Actually, I get along real well now with the cardiologist and Medtronic rep. We all respect each other.

My only concern is that they have secretly programmed the pacer to go into DDF (Drop Dead Frank) mode this summer.

Sue, I agree on the Carelink. I use it for another purpose as well. If I hook up my home made ECG and record on it while I run a dummy Carelink (no phone line) I can watch it put my heart through its paces. I watch for any changes that might indicate something happening.

Cabg, I have a cheap and simple ICD model. It is just a pair of wires with an electric plug on the end and bare on the other. Tape the bare wires to your chest and plug it in. The jolt starts your heart and the shock makes you jump pulling the plug from the wall. Slick huh. I'm looking for test subjects. Lost the last 2. Discovered that the Last Gasp Response was ON.

Portable Unit

Easy! Just pick up a 12V to 120 Inverter at Wall Mart and plug it into the 12V socket in the car.

Of course if you live here in the Calif desert with 5% humidity, you just use your last gasps to shuffle across the carpet and touch your chest to a grounded object. It works right through clothing as it will we around 10-20,000 volts. The advantage to this one is the jolt would not only restart the heart but would stand you upright as well.

Hmm, another thought..I wonder how one of the personal Tasers would work as a defib. Stick the prongs in your chest and as you fall forward it would push the button.

You know you're wired when...

You have a maintenance schedule just like your car.
