Atrial Fibrillation

I have had a pm now for three years. I got it due to a diagnosis of syncope but I like to call it 'fainting goat syndrome'. In periods of high stress, I checked out for a while. Now it seems I am having episodes of Atrial Fibrillation. I go in tomorrow for some tests. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Sorry, but I think the fainting goat reference is hysterical!! I saw pictures in the paper just the other day of a bunch of fainting goats. All you have to do is say Boo and they start keeling over one after another. I'm glad afib is not "infectious"! Just a thought but maybe your rate should be upped some to keep the fib from kicking in. Lenora

wow,Syncope/fainting goat/seizures/blackouts after 16 months of the same thing you speak of, I got my pacemaker/defib. All started in 2007 after a kidney operation then heart attack then 3 strokes 6 months of coumidin then seizures/blackouts/fainting/syncope started. I have been thru every test known and have been to 8 different types of doctors many neurologists and the same, no explaination just happens. After being on every different seizure med and then a bout with psy. doctor and 6 months of abilify, prozac and etc etc, the seizures/blackouts/fainting/syncope just got worse the more meds the more frequent. Then Heart Doctor put me on 1200 mgs amiorderone then 800 then 400 long term, this finally got them under controll so he could go in and fix my chemically coated clogged stint that clogged 80% in 12 months from scar tissue (plavix and all crestor and etc) they tried to fix it once and 3 seizures/blackouts/fainting spells on heart cath table stopped that. in 2 weeks ( on amioderone) I got three new stints, then they came back and pacemaker/defib was installed oct. 2009. Day after pacemaker/defib was installed had seizure/blackout/fainting spell/syncope while in hospital still have one a week now amiordrone/pacemaker/defib/coreg and all.

I have been told it was fainting goat syndrome too. All this came to and end when rushed to er after blackout/seizure/fainting spell/syncope happened on a friday, for the first time in 20 hospital visits in a year the ER docotor was the same one I saw not long before for the same problem, he told me you are staying in the hospital and we will hook you up to 100 wires on your head and I will keep you hooked up until one of the episodes occur, within 24 hours while hooked up and on the nerologcical floor at the hospital one of the Goat Fainting spells hit me at mid night in my sleep only this time it was recorded and my heart stopped 7.5 seconds they rushed me down to heart floor and then pacemaker/defib was a go the next day Sunday, this was after months and months of seizures/blackouts/fainting spells/syncopy. it took an ER doctor to finally put me on the right test to find out the problem. then like I said the day after pacemaker/defib installed it happened again and now every week at least one. Pacemaker monitor records nothing just says all is normal, now I know why they call Doctors as "Practicing Medicine" that is what they have been doing to me, hope they get it right soon. Hang in there hope you do not have any more " fainting goat spells" as I know first hand they are no fun at all and the Doctors make you out to be crazy.
