After 10 year olds surgery

My 10 years old son had a new pacemaker put in last week. we went to his check up and the doctor says that there is fluid laying on top of the pacemaker. that we have to keep a close eye on it. and also he had a pacemaker that has been in his belly area removed. that site is very swollen and the doctor says that there is a build up of blood laying under the incision. Has this happened to anyone before ? and if so what do they do for this ?

ask the dr?

What did the dr say to do about it? I would think the blood would go away on its own. I had fluid build up around mine once after replacement (I'm on my 4th) and they told me to use a heating pad on low for 15 min several times a day. It cleared up within a few days.

Just to clarify, fluid is on the DEVICE, not his heart?

Just wanted to say that after my 4 year old had her second pacemaker implanted she had a hematoma on the pacer site, which sounds like what happened with your kiddo. They went in and drained hers, but if they are saying just to watch it, it must not be too critical. Its one of those things that will hopefully go away on its own, if not they can always do a small procedure to drain the fluid. Hope this helped! Also, can I ask if your son was born with congenital heart disease?
