Pookie Update

In my last post (in response to a post by Arabella, my dear friend) I explained why I went to the ER on Wednesday and what was done (and not done) and what was promised.

WELL...the pain down my arm got worse, the numbness spread into my entire right side of my face, so I ended back in the ER again yesterday!! This time is was from 8pm last night until 9am this morning. BUT...this time I got a doctor who did blood tests, which are all fine, and he did a CT scan of my head....which is fine. (I still have a CT booked for Thursday of my neck and shoulder). This new ER doc also told me I'd be seen by a neurologist this week!!!!!!!!! as my eyelid area is frozen and I'm having eye pain. Sad to say, but here in Canada, the only way to get around the long waits is to go to the ER, but it's my health and well being so I gotta do what I gotta do. If I waited for my family doctor to get me a CT scan it would be 3-4 months away.

As a few of you might know I live in chronic pain and this is a new pain which started about 2 weeks ago. The numbness of my entire right side of my face started this past Monday. Personally, I think its all coming from my neck problems. Anyways, I'm having a hard time mentally because my old pain is hard enough to deal with; now something new is taking its toll on me and my hubby. We're beyond frustrated. I've put my hubby thru an awful lot because of my health for the past 4+ years. He's not angry and we're not arguing, but I can see the pain in his eyes. He wants to be able to fix me and can't. He is on my side 100% of the time, and together we will get thru this. I just feel badly because: because of ME, our lives have changed so drastically.

I know I shouldn't be whining or complaining as there are lots of people out there far worse off than I. I just wish I could get some of my pain gone so I can get back to being the funny and real me. I'm patient and I know I'll eventually get to the root of my problems. Hope, there is always hope.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Pookie

Pookie, you certainly are having a rough go lately. It also sounds like you are having some problems with your nervous system. The nerves in your neck will affect your face, throat, arms, hands, fingers and speech. Also your eyes and lids. Your symptoms of a problem often are numbness, tingling, pain, loss of sensation, visual distortion.... pulling of muscles. I am not a doctor, but please do some reading on nerves and problems of them. The good news is that if it is a nerve problem it can be fixed with the right dr. help. If the bones are crushing on the nerves you can have these symptoms. Read up on problems of the neck and shoulders and see what you can find.
Good luck and my strongest prayers are going to you.

we're here to support each other

i know that 5years ago when my brother had bi-pass a man from windsor in his room said he went to e,r, and refused to go home. guess what he had bi-pass while my brother waited in pain and anxiety for 8 months. it has gotten better here in ontario. my husband only waited a week after the angiogram. you my dear have been very ill for awhile. tell hubbie this one thing tho yes you are ill but if you had been out and about you wouldn;t be spending this quality time to-gether and when you get better everything will be kaboom betweem you. lots of fun and trips and dancing. sing dance and be happy. jessie

Thanks to everyone who posted their support. It is appreciated knowing there are people out there who are cheering me on.

Today I am still in a lot of pain, but knowing I am seeing a neurologist sometime this week helps a bit.

I am 100% convinced it's in my neck. My only concern is that whatever is going on, that I get the feeling back in my face. Today was the first day that I lost my taste sensation on the right side of my tongue. Scarey stuff.

I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks
Pookie

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
