Pookie's EP Appointment...

Hi Everyone.

Well, the EP says I definitely have Junctional Rhythm. He also said it can be called Ectopic Atrial Beats. Why can't the doctors agree on just one title???? Anyone out there with JR...have you been told that too?

However, it has subsided a lot since I've changed to decaf coffee and have limited my M&M chocolate peanut binges. :)
I am also taking more Magnesium - in pill form...250 mgs per day as I was taking 100mgs. Don't know if that is a lot or a little, but hey, if it works, I'm going to continue taking it.

The only change that was made to my pacermaker was under the Rate Response...the Optimization was ON and now it is OFF. It was explained to me and I think I understood it but if you asked me now what it all means...I couldn't tell yah.

So, as far as at the pacermaker interrogation went, that was it, and he just said to let him know if I don't like it. If not, they will see me in another 6 months.

Then he was kind enough to take me to a private office to discuss the Event Recorder test results. He offered a beta blocker but I said NO because like I said, I seem to have gotten better...now don't get me wrong, I still have awful Junctional Rhythm events...but not so often now to make me take a beta blocker.

We also discussed my shortness of breath and profound fatigue. NO where on the Event Recorder when I recorded an event did the shortness of breath or fatigue show any irregular things on the EKG so he is going to send me to some other kind of specialist as he thinks I may be dealing with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome because he said that my already having Neurocardiogenic Syncope, well sometimes, they go hand in hand. I don't know if that is true or not, but I'll just have to trust what he said...that the shortness of breath and fatigue are not related to my heart. (I'm still not 100% sold on this.) Anyone out there with Neurocardiogenic Syncope or Vasal Vagal - have you been told the same???????????

So.......if anyone out there can tell me what the Optimization OFF means....in English....I'd appreciate it.

OH, and my throat/neck = healing wonderfully. Swelling gone way down and today was first day not having to take "break through" narcotics for pain. Yeehaw.

What music do you dance that Junctional Rhythm to? Maybe that's what gives you the SOB.

Hi Dearest Pooks.

Still praying you have turned the corner. My RResponse was turned off about 9 months after I got my pm. I was a lot more comfortable without it. the explanation of how it worked, went right over my head. I only know that I felt better without it.

As for CFS. well why wouldn't you have it after all you have been through? You must be fair worn out. I have never met anyone with such spirit. You are an angel.

Tons of love and hugs

Fatigue, etc.

Hi, Pookie,

It's hard to tell if SOB and fatigue are related to our heart issues. For women in particular, there are so many things that can cause debilitating fatigue and shortness of breath.

I have researched quite a bit on this myself.

I suggest having not only your iron checked, but also your ferritin (storage iron). My ferritin was between 9 and 13 every time I got it checked. Now it's about 60 which is much, much better. I would also check your Vitamin D. Most people are terribly low. Another biggee for women in particular is hypothyroidism. Most doctors are ill-informed and will leave you feeling terrible until your thyroid levels are really bad. I spiraled down for years before figuring it out myself.

Just some other ideas for you to look at. It's tough when you have a bunch of symptoms to know if your looking at one problem or a number of issues.
