Anyone having PVC'S After PM

Hi Im 25 and I had a pacemaker put in last year after a total SV node ablation due to SVT. I was on the heart moniter at the hospital the other day and felt my heart kind of flutter like it has since I had the pacemaker put in and I have tried on many occasions to tell my doctor. He said it was the pacemaker doing its job but I was being paced and still had the PVC's and seen them on the moniter that day. I knew something wasnt right but he didnt believe me. Now I wonder if this is something that is supposed to be happening. Its kinda weird feeling and breathtaking. Anyones help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

PVC Problem

I have had my Pacemaker for 4 months due to Vaso Vagal Syncope, and am 39 years old. I had been having Palpitations and or Flutters for the past 6 years. I had seen 3 cardiologists and each put me on a holter monitor. I was able to capture many PVC's and they told me each time they were benign or not harmful, just annoying. Well they were annoying since I was having them all day long.

Well In August after passing out I went to the hospital. The doctors put me through the full cardio work up. I passed with flying colors a stress test and echo cardiogram but Failed the Tilt Table Test with a 5 second heart stop. 4 hours later I had a pacemaker.

The day after receiving the PM my heart rate was in the 100's consistently and the funny thing is the Electro Doc sent me home and said it would regulate itself. He said it was all anxiety! While home the first 3 weeks were hell with massive palpitations and high Heart rate. The Electro Doc tells me to come in for 24 hr holter.

AFter reviewing the holter results the Doc stated that the Palpitations are not dangerous and that it is the way my heart behaves. WHAT!!!!!!

He prescribed Verapamil to slow my heart rythm a little and I have not had many palpitations since. Apparently their are palps that Cardiologists worry about and there are those that can't kill you. That is what the Electro Doc told me. So I take my meds and if I feel them just ignore them.

Actually the combo of the PM and Verapamil has reduced my heart behaving the way it did for years prior. I feel 100%

See your EP and ask for a holter. Also see what he thinks abut Verapamil or a bete blocker to reduce your palps!

PVC's

PVC's are very common in the general population. They are caused by some area of irritable heart tissue. The ablation could be the cause or sometimes a high pacing voltage setting can aggravate them. A pacer cannot eliminate them. The PVC is an extra beat and the pacer can't remove beats.
The good news it that they are not generally a risk for heart problems, just a nuisance. At one point last year I was experiencing 2500 of them/day. I avoided the meds being offered and now they are down to just a few. I suspect I had a virus as I was also aching all over.

My suggestion is relax, all is well,

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
