Boston Scientific Rate Smoothing PM

Does anyone out there have one of these?
Any opinions on this kind of PM?

I am scheduled to get a replacement of my current (faulty) PM and the doctor is suggesting this kind.

Thanks!

My opinion

The previous name was Guidant. I am on my 2nd since 2000 & T.G., no problems. Mine is a single (ventricle) lead that paces me @ 100%.

Good luck,

I have a Boston Scientific Bi-Venticular ICD; implanted 5/16 and I haven't had any problems at all! I'm paced 100%.

Good luck

I have the rate response on with the rate smoothing. I've only had it since August, but everything seems to be going really well. I'm now training for a 5k run in December.
I'm 33. I've jumped up and down, ran fast down stairs, and driven down very bumpy roads without any rate response issues. I'm able to get on the treadmill and go from 0 to 4.5 mph jog and my pacer keeps up wonderfully. Once in a while, I'll feel the pacer kick in and pace the first few beats but the feeling doesn't last very long. It's like my body adapts to the rate change very quickly.
I wich you luck with your new one.

I've done well with my Medtronic and the factory reps are very good.

Having said this I suspect there is very little difference between manufacturers. It may depend more on some feature that is available in particular make or model that you need.

If your current pacer is working well you might want it replaced with the same type. Then request that the new one be programmed exactly the same from the start. That way you won't go through all trial and error of finding the right settings again.

Wow. Thanks for all the comments!!
It's been a long road, I am sure as most of you know.

Angelie, I too am an athlete...or was...until the PM was put in last year. Since it's been in I have had so many problems I can't even list them. Although I have been running and cycling on and off, I have felt terrible most of the time when I did any exercise at all. I am now 37 and would love to get back to exercise.
So, it's great to hear that you are running and jumping. That gives me great hope as the last year has been hell.

How long was your recovery? How did you re-enter into the running world after your PM was put in ?

Why did you get a PM put in?

And, I didn't know that Guidant was the old name. Good to know. Anyone know anything about the leads they use for this PM?

Thanks
Chesca
