Nobody Says Thank you

Anybody besides me ever notice how few people that post questions here bother to say thank you when somebody tries to help them with a reply. Especially the new ones. It ain't me they are not saying thank you to because I don't ever try to give any answers, but it just seems strange that so few people will take the time to say thank you. I looked at that other site and almost always them people will say thank you. But then they don't have near as many people asking questions as there is here.

But I just read some 30 or 40 postings and answers here and most of the answers looked to me like they were from people that know what they are talking about and were well thought out. I saw only 2 or 3 thank you and 1 of them was from a long time regular.

Strange to me because I was brought up to say thank you when somebody helped me, but them was different times I guess.

Expectations

I never expect to receive thanks for anything I say on here. When I respond to a question or otherwise make comments, my responses are based on my experience and what little knowledge I've gained. What it comes down to is that my responses are my opinions and everyone has one. They're like a** holes. If what I share helps someone, great, my life has had some purpose.

Bill, don't take insult if people don't say thank you. I don't and I have alot of opinions to go around. I'm sorry you felt the need to say something.

So if it helps...thank you for your concern and hope that your own issues are not so bad as to reduce your quality of life.

ThankYou

by Bill-2 - 2008-12-22 03:12:10

Joy, there is no way anybody can insult me because I never comment and I guess I shouldn't have even mentioned it this time. But having nothing better to do and reading 30 or 40 questions and over a 100 replies and seeing so few thanks I was surprised. I am glad to see that people do use the private message method to say thank you.

Anyway, I'll retreat to my corner and continue to read but not say anything until I get brave enough to try to answer somebodies question one day.

I WISH YOU ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW.

Brave enough to respond.

Billo,
It's actually fun. Don't worry too much about what you say. The way I look at it is that I am always willing to give free advice, and it is worth every cent you pay for it!

That is the beauty of a forum like this. Unlike doctors we don't have to be covering our back side all the time. We can toss in suggestions and the good ones will stick and the bad ones evaporate into the great digital pit. LOL

Merry Christmas to you.

thank you's

Like Frank, I get a lot of private messages with thank you's. Many people post to say thanks, I'm sure it's more than a few. That's nice and always appreciated, but I don't think anything of it if they don't. In addition to Frank's comments about people feeling lousy, messages just plain get buried in this format if they're more than a day or two old. Whatever the reason, no biggie either way ;o)

Thank you's

Bill,
As someone who gives a lot of answers it might help to know that very often I receive private messages with follow ups.

As for thank you's I also realize that quite often the reason someone asks is because they are feeling lousy or are scared. It just isn't easy to be polite under these circumstances. I'm only answering for me though.

The most gratifying responses I get are those that my come weeks or months later to let me know that someting I suggested had really helped.

Thanks for your concern and input. Have an enjoyable holiday time.
