I am almost 72 hours post-op. I had a ST.Jude single lead PM implanted. The PM and lead are placed very deep...so that I could hopefully continue to backpack with no problems.
OKAY...here is my question....has anyone experienced throat pressure and pain when you lean forward or are sitting up? It also happens with a deep breath or when I talk.
It feels like a lump in my throat and pressure around my throat...it's very uncomfortable. I am still only to eat soft foods like soup because of it...and only a little at a time.
Could it be the settings? I am waiting for the doctor to call back...it usually takes him all day or I have to call back and remind him that I called.
I have the feeling he will try and say it's not the PM...I never had it before.
Any ideas guys and gals?
Thank you, Holly

Throat pain & pressure

Hi Holly
I also experienced the throat pain and pressure in the breast bone and rib cage. It took about 6 weeks for it to subside. I was given the explanation that because the doctor put the pm very deep. I am skinny so he was trying to make it deep so as not to be so noticible.
But when I over due exercise I get the discomfort back. Since I am on plavix, I have to limit my intake of Advil. So I usually ice my chest and sometimes heat helps too.
Your not alone. Hope I helped.

if i were you i would just keep persisting until he sees you and he gives you answers. i am not saying all of them but a lot like to slough you off and so you need to keep on it until you get some answers. i have never experienced what you have after but before i did. i couldn't walk a step hardly because of the throat pain and pressure and shortness of breath. to-day i walked up two big flights of stairs and still had air. so good luck your pacemaker friend jessie

Today I explained everything to my doctor, he set my lower rate back to 80 and I felt an immediate improvement.

Hi Holly.
Sorry to hear that you are having throat pain and pressure.
I know if you do a search (upper right hand corner of this screen) you will gets tons of information as I've seen this question posted before.
Personally, if I were you, I'd get my butt back to whoever implanted your device and not leave until I got an answer.
Best of luck.
