How did you kill that battery?

A silly question for the old timers who've had multiple replacements... Do you find yourself thinking over what you did over the life of your last battery? Did I really get the most out of it and eek all the enjoyment I could out of it, or did I just sort of use it up? Which of your batteries did you have the most fun on?

I didn't do much on this last battery. A little hiking, a little skiing. The lead was impeded so it only lasted three years and I wasn't 100% for the last year between trying to get the beta blockers right and a broken foot. I didn't feel like I'd earned a new one yet when it died, I'd barely gotten started using up the old one!

Now my first battery! I felt proud when they told me that one was dead, like I'd done everything I could to enjoy every minute of it and deserved that shiny new one! I had two pregnancies, took up skiing, traveled to Europe and Mexico, it was the first time I'd been able to work out regularly. I don't think I missed much in those 7 yrs, I never slowed down.

What about you? Or maybe I'm just weird :o)

Not an ol' Timer, But ~ ~

My energizer bunny is still beatin' on his drums and hopefully is still happy and content.

The Dr. at my "grand opening" on 10/09 at the Heart Hospital said I would last for about 5 years, the tech in his office said I would last about 8 years, guess I could get rich taking bets, but as in Texas, the fun stuff in Texas is illegal and/or immoral. Rules are to be broken ~ LOL

Smitty, ElectricFrank, Snitch, and all you "seasoned" PM players, what about your energizer? GRATITUDES

Hi TraceyE! I have'nt replied much to you're excellant postings lately but you certainly are the spark plug in keeping this group alive. AND also want to mention all of you others, you know who you are, that also keep us informed.
I did not keep a diary of PM life as my high higher power Drs. keep me in the dark, maybe they know me too well as i worry wart. You know, after 4 PM's I have had only one interogation, just the regular phone checks every other month like in the first year, then every month there after. I did use up my very first battery (hate to use the word) as referring to my generator, but I was in your fair state of Florida say about 1998 and upon return found no response with magnet during phone check. I was told to come in NOW.
I felt bad to loose my 3rd PM pre-mature because of erosion. As never having any settings changed on any of my PM's that was probably the best. That was just a little more than a year ago. Now on my 4th a St. Jude with a pair of new leads I find it a little slow on rate response on treadmill compared to my previous PM but on the other hand it gives me a little more endurance as my Medtronic Enrethym would take me to the 130 upper limit too fast.

To sum up I feel kinda neglected about PM life and settings as I just get told to go and do my things and be happy. See, in all the years I didn't get the ill feelings from low battery, don't get anything from phone magnet checks but just a good warm like a shot of Jack Daniels.
So, after spending over 50 years working electronics knowing battery life curve, I keep myself in the dark!! donb

I'm on my third pacer in a three year period. I had trouble with my first 2 and now with this one I feel like i'm starting to get a little better day by day. I would say that I feel like the last two years were a waste b/c I gave up so much though I gained much more from having the pacer.
I didn't always feel like I was going to pass out. I didn't feel my heart feel like it was jumping out of my chest everytime I took a step.
Oh and the most important my 2nd pacer was my good friend. With the 2nd pacer I met my amazing boyfriend. Felt like I got some what of a life back because I got more visitors.
Ticker that I have now is just fascinating. I have a warranty on this one. I have at least 5 years on it ( God willing). I plan on enjoying life once they get some stuff figured out and maybe finish schooling at some point or have children with this pacer.
Either way each of them has had some down faults but in all I am blessed for all of them and know that my life is better with them.
Great questions Tracey love ya!
