Pacemaker Questions

Hi! Have a couple of questions about my new pacemaker and wonder if anyone has similar issues, etc. I am in cardiac rehab as also had a heart attack and two stents. I had to have the pacemaker cause after the atack, heart rate kept dropping to 30. Now, my heart rate is going to 130 at rehab. It has been considerably hhigher since I got the pacemaker than before. Has anyone had this trouble and do you know what they do to correct it? I don't go to cardiologist till July 22nd although they have faxed all of my rehab readings to them today.

Also wonder how long it takes the pacemaker to set as my still really sticks out and it is still very tender...it will be three weeks tomorrow that I have had it. Thanks so much for any information you can provide...I love this site!

hey,
I'm a little unclear as to what you are asking but I'll put my 2 cents in! My understanding is while in cardiac rehab you want your heart rate to increase as you work out, they should have figured out what your safe upper limit would be before you get started. It depends on things like your age, what your PM upper and lower limits are set at and your health. Cardiac rehab wants to strengthen your heart muscle by doing exercise that is within your designated limits. Your MD and cardiac rehab person should have figured these out like I mentioned before.
As far as the PM settling in it depends on some things as well, if you are thin it may always stick out ( mine does), and exactly where they placed it ie. my MD likes them a little closer to the collar bone, and since you are only 3 wks. out it will still be a while before it completely heals. Hope that helps shed some light on some of your concerns.
