CRT-D

My husband had a 3 lead ICD installed last July. They optimized it in September...everything was going good until a few weeks ago. Now he gets very short of breath when walking even a short distance..to the point of dizzy and nearly passing out....only happens when he walks or does anything stenuous. We can't go anywhere for fear..I'm sure you all know that feeling. Anyway we went to the cardio 2 weeks ago and he's been having short runs of V-tach..the doctor asked him at the time if these dizzy spells were random or if they happened with exercise. At the time we weren't keeping tract, but now realize that it is 99% went he is walking. My question is could it be they need to recheck the settings on his CRT-D. Thanks for any and all answers....

Any time he gets new symptoms, it needs to be checked out. It could be the settings or it could be something new going on.

For Sure

Definitely have them check it out - I would think that would be done automatically anytime there is trouble.
I have a CRT-D and have had it tweaked a couple of times and things have went reasonably well. However there have been many accounts on this forum where folks were having a terrible time and finally a tech or Doctor got the settings right and things greatly improved. There seems to be a wide range of what Doctors actually do when it comes to adjusting and understanding are devices and how they can affect us. It is important to have a good EP and get a second look if you are unsure about your current Doctors understanding of the ICD. Best wishes.

Get it checked

I am on my third ICD and this last one has caused exactly the same problem as yours, over the last 18 months.
I have had it checked and reprogrammed three times now and it is now on it's "highest setting" and it seems to have corrected the problem. I can now walk much further and am gradully increasing the distance before becoming slightly breathless. So , please, get it checked and insist that they resolve the problem, as this is possible withpersistence
Good luck,
