Ticking noise coming from the PM?

Hey All,

Ok, so I just found this site today by a man who bought a tv from me - long story short he said I had to check out this site - so here I am!

On to the good stuff. I have two mechanical heart valves,, both are St. Jude. So you guess it. they make a rather loud ticking noise, and you get both of them synced sitting in a quiet church can drive someone batty as they discretly look around for wrist watches that are putting off a double "tick tick" sound. =)

Since I had my second PM installed 2005 ppl that hear my heart beat continually think and blame the noise on my PM. And it drives me crazy!!! I know alot of ppl out there do not have PM and do not really know alot of ppl that do, but its just one of those things that gets to me sometimes. Any other person out there with a mechanical valve that runs into the same issue?

For a funny short story I'll tell you how I got fired from a job once (well that actually has happened more than once, but in this instance it was the first of its kind). About two years ago I was working at a temp agency and they put me in touch with Vector Security in Manassas, VA. I had a nice job, paid like 12 bucks an hr to sit in an office and do data entry. One prob tho. I was in the big bosses office, they were running out of room, so they pulled a desk into his office and gave me this old compaq desktop PC. About a week went by and finally the boss couldn't take it anymore, he asked what the ticking noise was. He said that he had searched the room, the clock didn't make the noise ect, well I couldn't tell him, I know that there is discrimination out there with folks that have heart problems (they view you as a liability sometimes) and so I just shrugged my shoulders. He became convinced it was the PC and ordered a brand new dell. After it was installed he was standing behind me and still hear the clicking noise. Finally I owned up to it and told him the story. I went out on lunch break and got a call on the way back to the office that I was no longer needed there and that they had found a replacement for me. =D I laughed it off.. sometimes I have to ask myself. Wonder if I didn't like that ticking noise, is there a way to turn it off? Another funny thing is its an emotional timebomb for me. You can tell when I am mad, the ticking gets louder, sad, slower, ect... =D Good thing I am not married yet, my wife would be able to read me like a book and I wouldn't be able to get away with anything!

Ok.. enough about me.

Just my two cents!

Great Story

Hi,
Just read your story, loved it, geeez, that boss, what an
a-ho**. Maybe he'll get some kind of chronic health condition. OK, I really would not wish that on anyone. It amazes my how heartless people can be. Sounds like you have managed to keep a good attitude through everything . That is really impressive. When I was diagnosed with heart failure I was really angry at God. I had always worked
out and run, played sports, made a pretty good attempt at eating a healthy diet. It has taken me a while not to flip off the sky and say something stupid like " this is for the big punisher up there ". That does not help. Oh, read your post
about dragging a magnet to pick up stuff, killer idea.
Well have a good day and good luck to you man.

Thanks Russ!

LOL! Ya you have to have a sense of humor with a heart problem, life just can't get any better once you do. =D

Yes, some ppl are A-holes.. I had another boss who told me after I worked there for two months that if he knew that I had a heart problem he wouldn't have hired me. The problem was he was wanting me to move these hundred lb crates and I about blew a gasket. =) Needless to say, he got his wish, I didn't really want to work for someone that thought like that.

I too have my doubts with God sometimes, I get mad at him for things from time to time.. but ultimately I am still alive when I should be dead, so I have alot to be grateful for.

Have a great day!

You always run anti-virus software.
