Thanks for advice on pacer/defib.

Want to thank you all for the comments, on pacer/defibr.
Went to my cardio. yesterday & he did a EKG on me, also blood work, don;t know the results of B.W. yet. EKG was fine.
I felt like a drunken person, so lightheaded, felt like I was walking side ways. Awful feeling. Memory is terrible, since I had heart failer, & surgery. Feel a little better today. Thank You All.

EKG fine?

by Pika - 2008-07-18 11:07:39

Glad to hear you're feeling better. I also have lightheaded whole day like walking inside the spaceship while I had my holter monitor attached. Dr said it was normal.... I looked at my report, QTc 675. Do you know when they would tell you it is not fine? Ans. When you are in code blue or need to resuscitate. Do you get a copy of EKG and have a look?

My cardio report

Thank you both for your comments.
No I don't have vertigo, was taken off 1 med. he thought might have caused it. Feel better yesterday, I get dizzy when I bend down, can't breath etc.
When I was hospitalized, the cardio. gave my kids & husband cards which said, I have cardimy apathy, severe heart failure, ventricolar tochycardia, deathly heart failure. Does anyone in this group have this. Would be nice to hear from you. Now I have to go thru another surgery because they botched up the 1st one, which I had only 30 days ago.. Have a funny feeling about going under the knife again. Would appreciate any comments, thank you again.

dizziness

by fibbermcgee&mollie - 2008-07-19 02:07:52

I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and was in V-tach 17 times in my sleep while wearing a holter monitor. Had an ICD put in about 8 weeks ago. I have constant lightheadedness although some days are better than others. My Doc insists that my dizziness is unrelated to my heart problem. Take a small dose of toprol (25mg) and this seems to help. But I am at a loss as to where to proceed with the lightheadedness. Guess I'll just have to live with it. What kind of surgery are you having? Good luck.

my next surgery

by rayan - 2008-07-19 04:07:17

I have to have my ICD/pacer replaced. Was told that I would going to have a defbrillator placed, came out with defib. plus pacemaker, was placed on collar bone hurts all the time, & it looks like I grew a 3rd breast.
Sticks out like a pak of cigarettes. Was placed over my heart they can't get my heart beat from front, because the pacer is right there. I am worried about this 2nd surgery. Also I can't take toprol they put me on it last year, & I felt like someone hit me with a baseball bat.
everytime I took the med. I felt worse, so I was taken off of it.My surgery is scheduled for aug.

My doctors insist that my dizziness is unrelated to my heart problem too. They said it could be due to anemia. Now anemia corrected. They said it could be due to migraine, diabetes, ears or eyes. My eyes specialist declare that nothing wrong to my eyes. They asked me to see the ear specialist....... Do you think I can sit down to the specialists waiting area 3 times a week? Anyway, like my anemia, they pushed to GI, GI pushed to Gynae, Gynae push to Heamotologist. Heamo pushed it back to GI and GI pushed it back to Gynae..... Gynae said I was in Perimenopause. They think I need to fix up my heart first. Cardio said I need to fix up my anemia first..... Anyway, anemia circle has ended. Dizziness...... I don't want to go thro that circle anymore. My purse is empty. I'm going to live with it.

My pacer is pretty flat. Hardly see a lump on my left chest wall. Mine one was implanted just between the armpit and right breast. I think I was done under GA and they have plenty of time to do their job without any disturbing. They're very relaxing and did a good job.

Take care.

Light headed

by ElectricFrank - 2008-07-19 12:07:02

Are you sure you are light headed or are you experiencing vertigo? There is a big difference. Light headed is the feeling you get when you are on the verge of passing out. It is what happens when we get up too fast. Things tend to get fuzzy and sometimes sparkley. This is caused by too little blood flow to the brain.
Vertigo is an inner ear balance problem. It upsets our balance and the world seems to be going around. It is what we used to do as kids where we would spin around until we were so dizzy we couldn't stand up. One of the most common causes of vertigo as we age is getting dehydrated. The fluid in the inner ear get thick.
The reason this is important is that vertigo has nothing to do with our heart and so won't show up on an EKG. The doc looks at it and says all it well, even though we know it isn't.

defib/pacer

by rayan - 2008-07-20 09:07:10

I too have a anemia, take 3 iron tabs a day. Seems fine now. Still dizzy at times. Are you weak I am. Also my right ankel swells almost every day. About my pacer/defib, I was told it would be very small, ended up with a very big pacer comb. don't think that I needed a pacer/defrib. just a defrib. that's what I was told anyway, it would be very small, not like I have a pak of cigarettes under my skin.I was in shock when I looked in the mirror and saw how large it was, thats why I have the 2nd surgery.I do not have any fatty tissue on my chest, I am very boney and have no fat, so they should have put it further down near my breast area, where there is some fatty tissue. Makes me so grrrr. You are lucky that they put it so it does not show & it is small. One dr my cardio. said small but another dr did my surgery, that is why I am having these problems.
