Need your prays

Hello everyone:
Just wanted to update you all on my month of pure h......
I last was here 1-19-09. Sorry it took so long. But I have been so sick, didn"t have the strength & so weak. Was sick 3 weeks before I
was addmitted to the hospital. My hubby had to help me off the couch & help me get around the house.I was so strong, all my life, this thing really worried. Any way I was taken to ER. There they didn't know what was wrong, there they took so many blood samples, think that my leads or pacer were causing all this. I also put in ICU, for as long as I was there, don't want to see that hospital bill!! Anyway they started on me meds. Lots of antibotics
Steroids, & 50,000 of vit D. Coradone had attacked alll my organs, they all held a conferance, about 4 Drs. and decited to start this treatment.
They found that my lungs had developed 2 masses, the size of golf balls. I have to have to go & have them do a biopsy, in 2 weeks to make it is nothing else. My dr informed me thar he had lost 3 patients, just in samll community, they came in too late, couldn't be helped. Just wanted to help someone here, if you are on this drug , & have these symtoms, please don't wait.
It could be life and death, I did surive, but have a long way to.
Drs. told me it will take up to 5 mos. to get this out my system.
So please for me. Wanted to tell you my story, because you have been so kind & helped me a lot.
God Bless all of you. Thanks for listening.
Hugz to all....Rayan

I read where this drug was given FDA approval without major trials because it was popular with European Cardiologist and American docs pushed hard for its use because there were too few options available.

Prayers...

by Pookie - 2009-02-17 08:02:37

Hi Rayan...you are on the top of my prayer list starting right now.

My oh my, what some of us go thru in life, I sometimes wonder why we are "tested"... and when asked that question the response I usually get is: so you will become stronger. I don't know if I believe that or not. I too have been thru the ringer and I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired...BUT...I try to keep my chin held high and take each day as it comes. Very hard to do.

Please know you are not alone, we are all here for you.

I wish you the best and a speedy recovery.

I'm cheering for you.!!

cordarone

by thomast - 2009-02-17 09:02:55

When I got my first PM in 04, I took cordarone for 3 months and was so out of breath I could not walk to the mailbox and back, a distance of 100 feet. They tried Sotalol which made me sick, then Tikosyn which has worked well for 4 years, Cordarone is an old drug, my cardio said it had such bad side effects that if it was invented now the FDA would never approve it.

Hope for your speedy recovery!!

Cordarone is a generic of Amiodarone. It has been shown to cause lung problems for some people and other side effects too. And it can have negative interactions with other popular drugs. Sadly, there are no drugs that are totally safe for everybody. Sorry that it caused you to suffer like that. It does cause interstitial fibroids in the lungs of some people.

Hell Rayan.,l

Please don't thank us for listening, thank you for telling us your story. It is a crying shame that anyone to get as sick as you are from a treatment that was supposed to help you. I'm glad you feel well enough to let us hear from you and we all wish you speedy and total recovery.

Rayan you have provided very important information for more of us than you probably realize. Many of us with pacemakers have arrhythmia. In fact I've been having a serious battle with it for about 2 years now and the doctors have tried several different medications, but none have helped. In fact one has made things worse, but that is another story I'll not go into now. I have known that Cordarone (more commonly known as Amiodarone to many of us) was one of the treatments for arrhythmia and have it mentioned as a possibility for me by one doctor. Having a son on it once and having seen what it did to him in about 8 months and seen what it has done to others I quashed his idea of it being a possible treatment for my problem instantly. My thought is I have enough problems now and I'll not consent to possibly making them worse.

The strange thing is I've seen people here say this medicine has worked as designed for them and they have no known side effects. I guess this proves once again that what's good for the goose is not always good for the gander and only The Lord knows why.

I'm glad you are on your way to being well and I will join others in praying that your trip is a successful and speedy one.

Hi Rayan!

I am so glad to hear that you are doing better!

I was worried about you since I hadn't seen any posts recently.

I am so thankful that you got in and were cared for by good Drs right away!

I will keep you in my prayers!
Hugs-

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
