How can I use a back pack with an ICD

Hi,
Is there anyone out there who uses a back pack with an ICD? Can some sort of padding be obtained ?

I got a back back with a waist strap and left the strap off that annoyed my pm. Mostly the weight of the packpack relied on the waist holder.

I use them on seat belts too. Just make sure the seam faces away from the pm.

I would..

If you still want to use a backpack, I'd probably first try one or 2 to see where the strap ends up. For me, anything heavy, no matter how much padding is over my ICD, it's just to painful long term. I would probably need some sort of strap that actually goes over, but has supports so it does not actually sit on the implant itself, like a metal support under the strap to "jump" over my ICD.

Most people who want to backpack still usually discuss with their surgeon to place the device so as to not interfer with the strap.

I hike a lot too. I find myself leaving my left strap kind of loose, and putting most of the weight on my hip belt. I've tried taping pads and things to the straps. They work for a while, put usually slip off. I use a
Soft-Touch thing when I drive on my seat belt, because I'm afraid if I get in a crash it'll pull an electrode. Maybe try memory foam with a hole cut out of it? I've been meaning to try it, but I haven't yet -

Happy hiking!
