Erm..... Spam?

I remember Spam to be a tinned, sort of meat back in the 60's - 70's!!

However, after reading a posting on here, yesterday I was armed with the knowledge about the problems with the aforementioned spam (computer not meat!!!).

I have received about 30 emails with.... "dont reply you have received a message from the Pacemaker Club... etc etc". I have deleted them without opening them.....

How? what? where? is happening?!! I am dreadful with this computer lark as it is and this just confuses my poor frazzled brain further!!!

Here's a copy of the news article on this enhancement.

Email Notifications
May 27, 2009

You can now be notified via email if someone replies to your posting or sends you a private message. Some members suggested this enhancement as a way to remind them to visit the site and check for replies to their postings and also for private messages. The emails are automatically sent from donotreply@pacemakerclub.com. Please do not reply to these emails as they are system generated and will not be delivered to our administrators and moderators.

The default is for members to receive these email notifications. If you wish to opt out of receiving them, login, go to Manage account in the Member Menu (top right of page) and then unselect the appropriate check boxes.

As i understand it... the messages are not "spam" they are real messages generation each time someone post a reply to your comments or a personal message to you on this website.

It is a new feature of the pacemaker club. It was mentioned in on of the older post.

It would be a great benefit if the wonderful manages of this site could post a notice of all the changes so we can keep up. ;-) Just a suggestion. You are doing a wonderful with this site.
