Rough Rides

Hi Lady,

I can't imagine how a rough road would cause a problem with new pacemaker leads as your body, pacemaker and leads shoud be moving up and down or sideways as one unit as you go over bumps. Of course, if you are having to hold on to some support with both hands and your arms are being jerked, I damage may be possible. However, check with your doctor as only he would know if there is something special or different about your pacemaker and leads implant that would require special care.

Good luck,

Smitty

Bumpy ride

At one week you may find it uncomfortable especially with a seat belt over the pacer.

One other possible side effect happens if you have rate response turned on in the pacer. In this case the pacer interprets the movement as exercise activity and speeds up your heart rate. So if you find your heart racing while going down those bumping roads that may be the cause.
I found that sitting in our hot tub with the jets on the back of my left shoulder would send my HR up to 140. Thats what clued me in to rate response. I could also just "twiddle" the pacer with my fingers and send my HR soaring. Since I didn't need the rate response I insisted it be turned off. Now I drive very rough roads in my 4wd with no problem.

You know you're wired when...

You have a little piece of high-tech in your chest.
