Hi out there.I had my pacemaker fitted last August and it has solvrd the electrics and missing heart beat problem but now I get out of breath if going up a hill or carrying heavy packages so they did an echogram and I have a leaky valve causing the problem and apparantly it isn't helped by the pacemaker. Does anyone know anything info that might help me? Thank you,Barbara.

Hi
I have had a leaky valve all my life. I have been getting breathless walking up hill and carrying anything a bit weighty. Your posting has reminded me to mention it to my specialist when I see him in June I think he has said I have to have another echogram.
Hope to hear from you soon
Billie

Hi Peter, thanks for replying.I'm afraid I can't tell you anymore as I don't know.I will have to fire a few questions at the doctor next time I'm there.

VALVE WHICH ONE ?

You did not say which valve is giving you problems. I had a leaking mitral valve- very common as you get older. After a pacemaker and AV node ablation my heart remodelled itself and my mitral valve leak is greatly reduced, almost undetectable. So a pacemaker need not be detrimental to heart valves. I would need to have a more detailed description of your heart condition before I could make any sensible comments regarding your condition. Cheers Peter
