Lions and Tigers and Chest Pain Oh MY!

I'm really scared and in a lot of pain. I've had really bad sharp chest pain that started late monday night. It started like jabbing pain in my right shoulder and throughout monday it moved across my whole chest and down my arms and remains like that now. It is very painful to breathe and it feels about like it did right after I got my pacemaker only a lot worse and on both sides. Normally I would run into the hospital or at least my cardiologist's office but the catch is that my new insurance won't cover anything heart related until thursday of this week. I had to wait 6 months for them to cover anything.

So I'm really just trying to hang in there until 12:01 thursday morning because I'm so close. If it was farther out I'd take the financial hit but I keep thinking I can wait two days just two days. I can't afford to go in and have them say oh its nothing or worse it's something related to my heart b/c I won't have coverage. I'm in law school and rediculously poor. I'm so scared and miserable but I keep thinking if it was something serious something more horrible would have happened by now outside of just pain. I don't know what to do, either way I don't think I'll be going to work or class the next few days or at least until Thursday. Wonderful more time missed due to my petulant heart.

I would really appreciate any help or information if anyone else has had these symptoms.

Thank you so much!

Pain

It is just my opinion but if I were you, I'd be at the ER so quickly because pain is a strong indicator that something is wrong.

I am NOT a doctor, but what you have described sounds like there could be fluid around your heart. I don't want to scare you or alarm you, but it did happen to me and others on this site.

Please go to the ER asap. Better safe than sorry and mostly for peace of mind. You should NOT be experiencing pain.

i have had a pacemaker for 12 years, i am 20 years old and i have never herd of anything like that, the only sharp pain i have gotten around my heart is ocassionally when i take a deep breath but that goes away. I am in college myself so i know the financial thing but your heart is very important and i doint know if waiting is the best idea.
Whatever you decide best of luck

most hospitals have a financial program to help pay your hospital bills when you have no insurance...probably would pay all of it...it is better to go now then wait in case things get worse....

And my first thought was pneumonia. I say ditto to the other advice.
