Pain still there :(

Hey everyone,

I posted a little over a week ago that I'd been fighting some chest pain. You all convinced me to go in and I went to the ER where they said they thought it was Pleurisy. That was last tuesday. Today I'm still in the same amount of pain and I saw my primary care physician who isn't sure it's pleurisy anymore and got me an emergency appointment with my cardiologist later today at 4:00. They ruled out clots, pnemonia, chest infections, general infections, heart issues (normal ekg), among other things. So I'm not sure what else they are thinking it could be.

I just want the pain to go away. It's hard to breathe and It hurts the worst when I breathe in and or if I cough, sneeze etc. do you guys have any ideas? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Pain

HI

So sorry to hear that you are still in pain.

Without knowing what tests were done...I wouldn't or couldn't venture a guess.

However, the first thing that came to mind was Pericarditis. A build up of blood in the heart sac. This would be found via an Xray if it were big enough, but the best way would be via an ultrasound.

How did they rule out a clot? Did you have a dopplar done? Did they do a d-dimer test on your blood?

Personally, I would march by butt back down to the ER and tell them what has transpired since last visit, etc and demand the tests, if any, they did NOT give you. Why leave a stone unturned?

I wish you the best.

Chest Xray

There is nothing worse than when you are in pain and the Drs. just say, well I don't know what it is. If it doesn't go away in a week....come back & see me...or something to that effect.

I also agree that with not knowing what tests they have given you, it is difficult to know what it might be.

This could be way off base. but years ago I had a horrible pain every time I took a deep breadth and progressed to hurt even with a shallow breadth. After having a chest xray, a tuberculin skin test & blood tests, they determined it was TB and I was treated with medication and bed rest for months. You might want to ask your Dr.

I do hope they find out quickly what it is and give you some relief.
