I got shocked today :(

Well I don’t post much but lerk around. Well I was about to do some computer work today and I was talking to another tech and thank god I was sitting in a chair, and i was shocked. It was my first time. I woke up wondering why he was asking me if I was ok. Well I rested at work for little over an hour, called the cardio pace doc. They told me to send in the info and it came back as my heart was back to normal , and if it happens again in 24 hrs, I would need to go to the ER. I am at home, kinda scared and just worried. I do thank god I have this, and have had it for three years, if I did not have it.... welll you know the rest. Just wanted to see what other do to relax and so on, thanks for reading.

Not shocked by regular pacemakers

Paige, if you have a pacemaker but do not have an "ICD" don't worry about being shocked. It is the implantable cardiac defibrillator that some people have along with their pacemakers that gives the shock. If their heart stops, it shocks them back.. sort of like you see on TV ER shows where they put the paddles on a patient's chest and yell "everyone stand back" and they shock the heart back to working. This is what an ICD does from the inside. Most people with pacemakers do not have or need ICDs so they don't get shocked.

Yeah sorry dont get me wrong, I have an IDC/pacemaker, I think they call it a Dual chamber something. the pacing is turned off. It's day one since I got shocked, I am back at work I hope this take my mind off of things. Have a great day all.

There is a period after a shock where you will walk on eggshells, but after a while the confidence is back up and running. You have to hope that this is a one time thing and may never happen again. Hopefully it won't. If it does the cycle with the eggshells and confidence starts over. Good luck to you.

oh my!

I am a little confused...I have a pacemaker and was wondering if this is something that happens typically?

You know you're wired when...

Intel inside is your motto.
