Altitude

Can a PM be effected at all by flying to Hawaii? The altitude is at a much greater level.

Thanks

I have been there twice since my pm and it had no effect on me either. I also flew between the islands.
Have fun if you go.

Altitude and PM's

If you are speaking directly about the altitude and flying then like the others have said there is no problem.

There was an interesting study done on altitude and PM"s and it turned out there there was no difference or effect.....here is the site if you would like to check it out for yourself......
http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/119932487/abstract?CRETRY=1&SRETRY=0.

It was a small study group but an interesting read all the same.

Hope you go on your vacation....cheers!!

UNLIKELY

The air pressure in any plane is always kept at a constant. So height is not an issue unless the plane loses compression which is extremely unlikely. Cheers pete

altitude.

It depends, due to underlying heart conditions and not my PM or iCD I have trouble over about 4000ft in altitude. I live at about 450 ft. The aircraft cabin is presuresed to 5000 to 6000 ft, so I am afraid I would have a problem if I tried to fly, so I have not tried it.

altitude from flying

Do a google search on 'airline cabin pressure'.

Also check the "interferences" tab on this site.

Most airlines keep cabin pressure equal to the pressure at 6,000 to 8,000 ft.

If you and your PM are ok at 6,000 to 8,000 ft you should be ok flying to HI.

If you are flying to HI at 30,000 ft and you lose cabin pressure and those little oxygen cups fall out of the ceiling, you have bigger fish to fry, try to relax and breath deeply into the cup.

Later, Charlie

Thank you

I flew to Hawaii from Chicago non stop and it never effected me.

I never had any issues while in Hawaii, I was on Maui for 11 days.

Good luck-

Just returned from Maui

My husband & I just returned from a 7 day trip to Maui. My PM was implanted on 6/4/08. Nothing bothered me, but I did have the same concerns before our vacation. I had a great time and was so grateful to just be there. I even swam in the pool and went snorkeling and did great.

Enjoy life, dont' let the PM stop you from going forward and experiencing the awesome life you have.

Keep the beat going

I travel all the time- went around the world this past summer, flying & cruiseing.
No problem flying my husband a retired Airline Captain
said their was never a problem with any passanger in his career.due to high altitude etc.
Most planes & airports are equiped to handle any cardio problems.
I just get a pat down at TSA security points never go threw the archway. Also getting on cruise ships & stores with alarm always pat down. I just tell them & never had to show a card. I do carry a letter from my doctor when overseas.

You know you're wired when...

You can hear your heartbeat in your cell phone.
