Vasovagal Syncope

I was diagnosed with vasovagal syncope and given a PM after a 5 second pause on the tilt table test.

My EP states that the LOTREL high blood pressure medicine I was taking made the probablity of syncope episodes more likely due to the dialation of blood vessels.

Well I did and still due have high blood pressure. He has me on 20mg of coreg (beta blocker) and 240mg of Verapamil (calcium
channel blocker).

He said that if these did not work to lower my pressure he'd add Clonidine (Alpha Blocker)

Current blood pressure avg 145/95, Had Pacemaker for 7 weeks!

Any thoughts?

Hi.

So sorry to hear that you've been diagnosed with VVS.

I too was diagnosed (in Feb of 2007) with Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I was constantly dizzy (24/7) but only fainted twice in my life. However, my dizziness was also diagnosed as an inner ear imbalance, so who really knows?

All I do know is that I haven't been dizzy in months....Yippee! I go to weekly rehab therapy for my inner ear problem so that must be working.

Anyways, back to your VVS. There is a SEARCH feature on this site that has a wealth of information...upper right hand corner. Great spot.

Wishing you the best and keep us updated. And personally, I don't think your average blood pressure is that high. Isn't normal around 120/70 these days? One more comment/suggestion: decrease your salt intake.
