feeling low

hi guys i just thought id have a little moan. i hope you dont mind ive had my ablation 2 weeks ago and i feel alot better so why do i feel so low. iam having my pm moved on friday at the moment it just doesnt seem to end the hospital appointment and operations. i wrote a few weeks ago about depression and how people cant get out of it. well ive been so surprised by the affect of not taking my medication has had on me. the last ten days have been hell withdrawl symptoms but it is like a cloud of fog has lifted from my mind i can think clearer and the interest i had in things before has come back. has anyone else gone through the same thing. i would love to hear from you,so in some respects i have changed my mind about what causes depression in some people and that the fact some heart medicines do make you alot more depressed is in some way a factor. i think in some way me having doubts wether iam making the right decision having the pm moved is adding to the worry and stress iam already feeling. its the not being able to do things after wards and the thought of it still not getting better that worries me.. but i suppose until i get it done i will never know moan is over normal service will be resumed lol

Depression and drugs

Hi Alice....

Well I am glad to hear you can see the sun between the clouds. Not knowing what cardiac medications you were on I won't assume anything.

What I do know is that there are many cardiac medications out there that either predispose people to depression or in some cases may cause depression.Bet blockers are notorious for affecting moods.

Your system has gone through a "withdrawl" tough thing to do and can be hard on one's body....I am glad to hear you have made it through it.

With your ablation and now new PM....maybe that will be a "new" lease on life. As I said I don't know you background and I would have to assume you were on all the meds for a reason...but if at all possible talk with your GP and see if you can minimize the medications you will. If you had your ablation for atrial fib and it was successful...that would lead me to believe that you would no longer need your warfrin/coumadin if you were indeed on that drug or rate control medications

Regardless you say your mind is clearer and that is what counts....best of luck to you...

hi yes i was on beta blockers atentol and flecinaide it was for fast and irregular heartbeats that had got worse over the last 2 years over the last 8 months it was really bad and they said the medication wasnt working anymore that why they recommended i have ablation but when i went to have it i was in a-fib and my heart was so unstable they wouldnt do it and that i had to have a pacemaker fitted as i couldnt cope without the tablets.. i had the pacemaker fitted and 2 weeks ago i had the ablation they said iam now 100% reliant on my pm now.. which i dont understand because before when i was going to have the ablation i wouldnt have been dependant on a pacemaker then . its strange it doesnt make sense.. they say moving it now is going to be alot more difficult because of my 100% reliant on pm so iam goin to have to go on a temporary one while they move it as i could die if something goes wrong or they take too long.. their words not mine.cheerful bunch when you read the instructions on the tablet packet it gives depression and palpations as a side affect but that what your taking them for errrrr madness thank you for your comment

last year it seemed i was at a doctor every week. it was not funny. 2 surgeries and then dealing with this pacemaker and then finally i who seldom saw a dr. was in their offices more often than not. finally it calmed down. i think one gets defeated easily when involved constantly with the medical profession. it is all so hard to understand for the layman and then even if you have someone with you you don't always catch what is being said.so i wouldn't wonder you would be depressed at this stage. my husband takes beta blockers and he too becomes a bit moody. he tries he really does but we are all human. so try to relax. get the thing done and over with and hopefully then you will finally have some quiet time away from the doctors. right now i have some minor surgery to get done and meanwhile i have to see the naethesiologist because i need a general anesthetic it seems. then hopefully i can go the winter without something else happening. hey what can i say. i am 67 now so i expect the odd thing to come along. my being very healthy all those years spoiled me alice. so thinking of you and hope it all goes well and i can catch you on msn. jessie

i do think

that they owe you more of an explanation. seems that maybe the ablation failed if you are now 100% dependant on your pacemaker. maybe stepford_wife can explain more to you as she had an ablation and is 100% dependant. i don't know if i would be moving it if there was that much danger. jessie

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
