tightness/stifness

I was wondering about the tightness of the whole pacemaker area. Does this go away? My whole upper body is really stiff and feels almost stitched together.

I think you are just in an adjustment period, your body is just getting used to the device, when I first had mine implanted my spot where it was placed felt stiff and VERY itchy probably due to the stitches. If it keeps up call your doctor, but for now just enjoy life as the pacemaker will make you feel A LOT better.

Stiffness

You didn't say when you had the surgery. Some of the stiffness after surgery can be due to the way they handle your body when you are out (if you were). They think nothing of putting you in positions that would be very uncomfortable if you were awake. That can cause all sorts of soreness/stiffness in areas unrelated to the pacemaker.

I chose to be awake during my implant and was able to take care of myself. At one point one of the staff was using my shoulder as an arm rest. His elbow was supporting most of his weight on my upper chest and shoulder. He was rather indignant when I asked him to stop it. Anyway the result was that I had very little pain after the surgery.

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
