occasional tachycardia with exertion

Hello everyone. I have a dual chamber pacemaker for over 2 years now. Only one episode of complete AV block with no other heart issues except a very slight thickening of muscle in right ventricle. This does not result in any restriction of blood flow. All tests and checkups show only 3-4% PM usage. So really not relying on it at all. I do have these occasional runs of tachycardia with sometimes only slight exertion. I sometimes even notice it when I experience really hot weather or hot water. Does anyone else experience this? My docs don't really see much that's too obvious and it doesn't seem like it's the pacer causing it.

Racing heart

Hi, you may wish to begin documenting when this happens to you. Sometimes after a PM implant your heart will develop a racing heartbeat. It can be controlled by meds some times. I have had this happen to me and now I have to take a medication to control it. My heart would go into the 190 range without notice! Makes me dizzy just thinking about it. If you have a record of it then you can show the doc. If he doesn't listen just ask him if it was his heart would he be concerned?

Best of luck to you,

Good one, Pacergirl! I asked the person doing my interrogation the same question a couple of weeks ago. My heart took to "racing" after my implant. The highest it got was 102 bpm. I was told that I shouldn't even be bothered by it. When they did the interrogation and testing, it turned out that when my heart reached 75!!!!! I could feel it. The tester was flabbergasted. He tested over and over and everytime, at 75 I told him I could feel it. When he reached 95, I was broken out in a sweat and pale. They said I was one of few that was very sensitive to my heart beat. He lowered the voltage in my left lead and it has helped, but still not completely taken it away. Hope this helps a bit. Blessings, Shelia
