Slight Chest/Heart Pain

Hello,

I had my PM installed 12/6/08 and surgery/recovery all went very well. However, I have noticed slight (pinching type) pain in my heart almost 10% of the time. I have monitored my HR and it is above my PM threshold setting of 60 during the pain. Therefore, I don't believe that I am feeling the PM kicking in.

It is possible I'm just being hypersensitive post pm. However, I'm reluctant to go back to the cardiologist for another battery of tests...

Regards,
Steve

I got my new PM in Feb and sure enough I also feel a little twinge here and there. But mostly when I'm at rest reading or watching TV. Or trying to go to sleep. My bet is a very high percentage of us have these sensations when we are being quiet and still. When I am active or busy they don't seem to happen. And never when I am exercising. So I have diagnosed myself as semi nuerotic and over reacting to routine twinges. If you are powering through your workouts with zero problems then odds are you are fine. If you feel a crushing pain in your chest, numbness on your left side, and throbbing in your neck, don't call me (I live in Tampa 5 hrs away). Call 911. Jeeze I wish I was your age again! And pardon my sick sense of humor, but Cabbage Head already gave you good medical advice so I'm just letting you know that what you are feeling is VERY common with new PMs. In another post, someone said those nerve endings in the skin that were irritated by the procedure are firing off and usually die down with time. I could tell you what it felt like to have prostrate cancer surgery last year (many many many unpleasent sensations) but you really don't want to know. :)

You know you're wired when...

You can feel your fingers and toes again.
