Sad people!!!

Hi there, do you think the site is being inundated with idiots who have nothing wrong with them and have just stumbled upon us and have nothing better to do than clog up the site?

Just been going through new members list, lots of people who have 0 device inplanted in 1950, born in 1870 and have left no posts.

Happy Easter to everyone who has a genuine reason for being here. I hope you all enjoy the holiday and keep well.

reply from one of the "sad people"

Hi Happy Heart,
I rarely reply or post. I am a member for 2 years and currently do not have a pacemaker.
Although I may not have filled out my profile I have an "asymptomatic" congenital heart block and will require a pacemaker some time in the future. I have no friends or family with pacemakers.
As a 36 year old mother of 3 young children I find this a very daunting prospect and I consider this site a valuable source of information and encouragement. A sense of what to expect and a feeling that I life can still go on, much the same as before.
I do not consider myself an idiot. Infact I think it prudent to be aware of and prepared for when my time to pace comes.
Yours, non idiotically
Julie

default

I don't think they're idiots or impostors, just people who don't bother to fill out the profile. Those are the default settings if you don't tell it different. Either that or I'm a mere infant around here!

Memberships

my thoughts...I think most people who find us have pacemakers or defibs, I just think they are not posting a username and more information to keep their identity private and/or until they become comfortable with the site.

I know when I first found this site, it took me a few weeks to become a full fledged member...I was new to computers and never had joined a website group in my life, so I can understand why some people don't jump right in.

Happy Easter,
Pookie

What is it a full moon?

There seems to be some issues lately with short fuses... So come on let's make nice.... Let's stop assuming things about people and countries and any of the other things we all make assumptions about and get back to supporting one another....

Peace and Happiness to all the wonderful Spring Day.

Your Choice Furnhusch

by SMITTY - 2009-04-11 11:04:07

Hi Furnhusch,

I don't think you are an idiot. You happen to be one of the members that chose not to give a biographical sketch of yourself. That is an option every member has and I'm sure the founders of this site would not have given us that option had it been all that important to them. I see no difference in the person that does not give a bio than the one that fills in any, or all, of the blanks with false information. It is your choice.

Idiot with a pacer

by furnhusch - 2009-04-11 11:04:47

I am a happy pacer recipient who is also an idiot. Not a bad combo, really.

Let's move on ...

by admin - 2009-04-12 08:04:49

Members have a choice of the level of information they provided. 0 devices implanted, implanted in 1950, born in 1870 are the default values of optional data that members may provide if they want upon registering.

Some members never post a message, but all browse postings to find the information & support they seek.

Please let's move one and continue to help and support each other. Thousands of recipients are contining on us.

Sorry guys, never even thought about default or people not filling in the boxes.

Didnt intend to upset anyone, just thought that people might be abusing the site, as I have seen things like that happen on other sites and I didnt want it to get clogged up and stop people with a genuine need coming in.

SOOOOOOOOOOO IF IVE UPSET ANYONE I'M REALLY SORRY.

Sorry

by Hot Heart - 2009-04-15 05:04:05

I've personally messaged TracieE. juliek, Pookie, pacergirl, furnhush, smitthy and Blake to say that I am sorry if I upset or offended them.

Case of me not understanding the default system and 'assuming' Shall not assume in future, so its a lesson learned.

So, my advice is to go about your daily routine and forget that you have a pacemaker implanted in your body.
