Shocks

Hi all. I've been reading from the site for several months, but this is my first question....I got my ICD in June for a weak heart and fast heart rate...I have not gotten the "big" shock yet, but for the past few days, I've had 2-3 smaller shocks, like a rubberband snapping in my chest. Are these just to slow down my heart before being defibbed? I apologize for the simple language, but I'm still learning all of the terms....Thanks for any help. Happy New Year.

Do you have the ventricular pacer? If so,they may be what you are feeling.

Bursts

When I had my 1st pacer check w/the Medtronic rep, he showed me where I had had what he called bursts. IThey occurred in the middle of the night & I didn't feel them so had to take his word for it. He described them as not full shocks but little mini jolts that corrected whatever was happening at the time. I'm not looking forward to the first real shock. Happy New Year!
