pm removed

Has anyone had their pm removed? I had my first pm for 12 years it recorded use of less than <1%. During the interigation it always shows things are fine. I received a new one 5 years ago and still not using it, the dr has decided it would be ok to remove it. Have you ever heard of this before?

I'm no expert, but why would you want to remove something that isn't bothering you or causing any trouble?

why have pm removed

the last five months they have droped the BPM down to 40 to see if I would be ok and everything has been fine. The dr thinks maybe a miss diagnosis, she is not the original dr than put it in. At the time it did definitly help for the first month or so but didnt need it after that. Maybe they needed to do more tests before they put it in to begin with, im not sure. I am glad iot was there for me when I needed it but I would like to know what the real problem was and if it could come back. The reason I would like to have it removed if I dont need it is because of my profession. I am in healthcare and work with children with CP and most of them have strong involentary movement and they hit the pm all the time with their head, it is Very painful and irritated all the time. Also the pm stands out on my chest because there is no padding to hide it ha ha(wish there was). I am excited and scared at the same time. I pray about it all the time! I am scheduled for July 6th. I pray that everything goes ok.

Yes I have but you are probably one in a million. Can be due to wrong diagnosis. Cheers Peter

Pacemaker Removed

Just want to comment as I had mine removed Last Dec because of erosion. Cardiologist felt I could get along without. I had the 21 day monitor which showed no problems along with ECG showing only 1st degree electrical block.
Life was great as My bottom HR was locked at 60 BPM for almost two months. There's the big question, HOW in the world can your normal pacemaker be syncronized to any quartz wall clock at 60 BPM? Well, apparently after 17 years of being pulsed by a PM it did happen to me regardless of the horse laughs I got from the medical people.
After 60days my bottom HR started dropping and started A-Fib. Hospital got it under control and I had a choice of a New installation with new leads right chest soon or later. My choice was NOW.
I would think rather than removal to have interogation done and have settings changed to only a limp mode and see what happens after a period of time. I am only telling you this as a 77 year old from my experiences as I have learned from this site that we all have to look at family genes which tell our makeup. I buried my widowed mother last July at age 101. Dad was 64 years 10 months. Don

I am no expert, but I believe that without the defibrillator that I have, I would be dead.
