biopsy

Mornin all,

I know I havent checked in for a few months but everything has been going great as far as my pacer is concerned. (knocks on wood!) My current problem is they found a spot on my breast and are doing a core biopsy today. The only meds I am getting are 1 valium and 1 codein just as I leave the house. Im just scared the meds will lower my heart rate during the biopsy. I cant find any info about these meds with a pacer. The only thing my dr told me is check with pharmacy about interactions with other meds Im on. Sorry, interaction isnt my concern. Ive also been diagnoised with temperal lobe epilepsy 2 months ago. Been a fun year. lol I leave for biopsy in a few hours so probably wont get any replies here soon enough but just posting here made me less nervous. Thanks all. Nancy

Even if you take a drug that lowers your hr, it's not a big deal with the pacemaker because it won't let your rate get too low anyway. Both are perfectly safe. Good luck!!!!

No, codeine and valium do not affect heart rate. We routinely give valium and benadryl prior to cardiac procedures but codeine never. Codeine tends to make people nauseated. Good luck.

alls well

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
