This site is a common ground for people with implanted pacemakers and ICDs.
It's a support group where we can vent, share our stories (both good and bad), and ask questions. Since you've had a pacemaker since birth you are very well acquainted with them but most people that come here don't know anything about them at all. A lot of people that come here for the first time just got a "unplanned" pacemaker/ICD and are still in shock that they even have one at all. It's all an adjustment for everyone, and it helps so much to talk to others that understand.
You've had a pacemaker since you were born so you don't know what it's like otherwise. The majority of people are scared to death of having one implanted because they've lived their life thus far without it.
I'm so glad that technology has advanced so much to help people with heart rhythm problems, aren't you. I mean, none of us really likes to have these things, I would guess, but they help keep us ticking like we should. If we weren't ticking, than we wouldn't be here, so I guess it's a pretty wonderous trade-off.
Good to meet you, and I look forward to seeing you around this place. Welcome.

Welcome

A big welcome to you. Glad you found us.

There are other young people on here (not that the rest of us are "old") but they don't seem to post very often. Maybe too busy? ...Which is good, right?

I seem to remember others who stated that they had implants right after birth. Hopefully they will reply.

Anyway, you sound like a really happy, positive, and very well adjusted person. Your upbeat post made my day a little better, so thanks....

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
